Leaving college yesterday, the same as usual, pulled away, then slowed to let some people who wanted to cross do so (it gets busy by the motorbike parking as it's near the main entrance.)

As I went to pull away again, the back wheel just span up and resulted in the bike doing a full 180 degree spin (probably due to me turning very slightly as I pulled away) and slamming into the ground, I had a look around where it happened, and it wasn't wet, I saw nothing on the ground, which resulted in my being hugely confused, as it wasnt just a little spin or slip, but a massive slide as if I was on ice. This was very annoying on top of making me look extremely n00by as another biker saw it happen.

When I got to college today I had another look around and did not see anything that would have caused it to slide like it did, so I put it down to it just being a cold tyre (which i still didn't believe could possibly cause it to do what it did)

BUT THEN.... I left college today after it had been raining lightly most of the day, and saw lots of rainbow coloured oil/diesel all over the area in which I had slid out, and other areas. so mystery solved and FUCK YOU whoever spilled/leaked oil there.

Only damage was a broken bar end mirror, although I managed to out one together out of two broken ones, so I'm back in business baby.

Not a single mark anywhere else on the bike (other than light marks on the crash bung)

Every time people mention diesel I've always been like "psht how slippery can it be"
Then a few weeks ago I was filling up (in the car, luckily) and must have stood in a patch of diesel, because when I got back in the car I struggled to keep my feet from sliding off the pedals. If it's that bad I don't want to go anywhere near it.

Ah, the old mystery spillage excuse. We've all used it

One particularly hilarious bit of incompetence I remember was being on a PE175. Had been ripping round the local fields. I was about 17. Some girls had gathered to watch half a dozen of us MX heroes. I flipped down the sidestand and intended to kind of sit on the bike looking cool while sparking up a fag...only the stand sank into the soft mud and down I went, face first, with the old Suzy landing on top of me. As if that wasn't hideous enough, the fucking pipe was trapped against my thigh and I screamed like a girl till my mate hauled the bike off me

On the up side, I doubt those young ladies have ever laughed as much before or since

I presume you've already informed the college you broke your leg, collar bone, bike and are traumatised by the incident you may be unable to study and wish to be compensated due to their lack of maintaining the college-highway

Be careful if you walk in diesel on the way to and from the kiosk after paying, i got back on the bike and when i put my foot down it was like being on ice, diesel and hard soles of motorcycle boots do not mix. reminded me of bowling in those stupid shoes when you accidentally step on the lane !!
