I was thinking about this last night on the way home from manchester on the M62.

I was getting pissed off with the amount of cars with a blown bulb and compensating by whacking on full beam, along with the cunts who have poorly adjusted lights blinding me from a mile off.

Surely the fact that there are so many of these blown bulb cars, it means that traffic cops aren't doing their job?

bulbs are difficult to change in most modern motors which is some of it, the other thing is modern lights are pretty good so even on 1 lamp you can see ok.

The majority of one eyed menaces will be Eastern Block Scum in 33 yr old BMW M-Sports. Mad

Most people dont notice, replaced a dipped beam bulb in my car today that my wife didnt notice was out. Whats worse is the diy numpties who try and do it themselves and then blind everyone because they fitted the bulb upside down. Rolling Eyes Which doesnt include me as im a certified bulb fitter. Funnily enough its the switching on that is most stressful for bulb. The filament gets a hammering every time.

Best solution is to plug it into the mains supply when park up and leave the lights on for ever Smile

Hmm, people are mostly stupid I think.

Just the other night I stopped my bike and got off to tell the bmw behind me that they had their lights off.

As for car lights, at first I actually thought people didn't know.

But I have a colleague at work, who had a Ford Ka and would only change his headlight bulbs when both went. (Well I had to change them because he hasn't a clue, with the Ka you have to take the front wheel off and the wheel arch lining).

When he was selling the car, I think he had 1 headlight out, 2 brakes and I think 2 rear driving lights. He got stopped and fined.

Thing is I offered to fix it, but he couldn't be arzxxed.

There's also people I know who seriously take their car to a dealer to have a bulb changed and are somehow shocked and even embarrassed that Mr IT Kawakid is quite handy when it comes to motors.

It is funny how some dithering buffoons can drive a car in the dark without lights on. Scary Funny. Pale

It's OK, they drive by the dim glow of the smartphone they're texting with.

You'll notice the ones with a bulb out [*].

But yes, it can be a ball-ache to swap them out. For a wonder, my 10 year old C3 still hasn't blown a bulb, but I believe it's a "go in through the anus wheel arch" job. Sick

That said, I do enjoy seeing a Halfrauds monkey half swallowed inside a bonnet effing and blinding as he tries to earn his £3. Very Happy

The wut?

Working near a Plod college, I've lost count (see [*]) of the number of pandas with lights out. I'm sure they all blew after they did their mandatory checks before setting off. Whistle

Bane of my life too. What the fuck possesses anyone to think using one headlight on full beam is an acceptable way to carry on after they have a bulb blow? Have they never heard of carrying a spare?

Some day every other car is on one brake light too. FFS, cagers.

Seriously I've had cars where it's easier to change a gearbox than a headlamp bulb, why something so theoretically simple and so predictably necessary should be so difficult is a total mystery to me.

Yes. It's a worldwide cartel Wink

On topic on my old car I graze knuckles changing bulbs.
Glad I do not own nwer model tough as whole headlight has to be removed to replace bulb. What that does to the alignment I can only guess at. Probably explains why I'm getting blinded more now.

I got flashed out of a junction by a bloke with one bulb out, the light that worked actually got brighter,

made me wonder if one bulb missing means less power drawn from the circuit = brighter remaining bulb

I find it even more shocking [and blinding] they've started fitting these ridiculous things, not only to new cars, but raised up landrovers and the like, its like driving towards a fucking lighthouse at night with half of them.

Of course its all in the interests of road safety - brighter lights mean safer driving right, that is until you have a head on with some poor blinded sod anyway Rolling Eyes

Still suprised they haven't been able to put dashboard lights to alert drivers to bulbs being out, i know fuck all about electrics but surely it wouldn't be that much of a cost or difficulty Thinking
