Right, long story short, brought a car off ebay for 320 quid, never got the car cause he sold it to someone else before i had chance to collect it.

This was 5 months ago.

Hes lied to me, wasted my time, fobbed me and my mother off, told me random bullshit, and made stories up and he basically has no intntion of paying my money back.

The reason? I dont have his home adress or telephone number.

I have his bank details, his full name, 3 mobile numbers, email adress.

If anyone on here works at natwest bank or knows someone that does/can do something (find this cunts adress) then id happily reward them just to see the smile wiped off this pricks face.

Alternatively, does anyone know a good speech i could put on and phone up his local branch and pretend to be the 5 0 or something?

You wont get any personal information from the bank unless you have a police warrant, its all to do with data protection.
best bet is to report him to ebay and see what happens, apart from that theres not much else you can do.
Problem is you cant prove that the car was yours for him not to sell it on, as you never had to docs to change into your name.
You've been done over by the sounds of it. Bummer thing to happen.

call the cops, tell them everything, email ebay, same deal plus tell them you have involved the police. Your "seller" has been fraudulent and the cops have been showing an interest recently in ebay.

Agree with both the above. Reort him, especially to the police. There might even be a specific branch that deals with online fraud? You'd need to check.

As for the asking a person that works in a bank for his details? Don't ask people to ruin their lives and careers for you when you're the one that's been done over, that's just plain selfish!

You've been had, deal with it and use whatever the law can do to help you. (Even if it might not be much!)
Then, when you do eventually find his address, you can visit him and explain what a horrible person he is. Wink

You can request their contact information from eBay from here.

You'll get their name, address and phone number.

He has vanished from ebay or changed his ID, police said its a civil matter needs to go to the citizens advice bureau, CAB wouldnt do jack because i dont have his home adress...

About 10 minutes ago i called his mobile for around the 36th time in one hour and a bloke answered, it was his mechanic, and the bloke who owes me the money is out on recovery, so that means he must be selling cars or owns a garage, but his mate refused point blank to give his adress.

I felt bad because this bloke who answered i told him what his workmate had been up to, and this bloke was literally shaking he could hardly speak he was stuttering and ummin and arring like no ones business, im also buzzing like fook because i think i may be onto somethng here, now his workmate knows what hes been up to maybe he will pay me?

I reckon you were maybe talking to the guy you needed to get your money off and he was fobbing you off!

However, if the number you called was answered there's hope. Maybe if you go about things another way? Perhaps by calling again and asking different questions or pretending to be someone else? That way you might get to see him face to face?!

Hi

You have been stitched up.

The police should deal with it, but are maybe trying to get out of it on the basis it is just money.

Nobody working for a bank can let you know. OK, you might not say where the address came from, but if he figured it out then complained to the bank you can be fairly certain it would be checked.

It might well be worth considering speaking to his bank directly and explaining the situation, and that he is using his account for processing fraudulent payments. However you need to be very certain of your facts before you try anything like this.

If you do need to really kick them into action then report the car stolen (assuming you have the registration number). However this might be a touch extreme (especially for whoever now has the car).

When the mobile phone was answered did they come out with anything useful like "Bobs Garage"?

All the best

Keith

As others have said, call the police, tell them the situation and give them all the details, and they should sort it all out to be honest.

Theres a company that will tack mobile phone numbers, you have to pay £30 a year or somehting but it will trace where the phone was on last, all you need to do is wait till it is near a garrage, then you have his work address.
I'm not sure how these work but you could sell your debt to a debt collectors, they are also quite good at persuadeing people to give up any money owed, i suspect you would need their home address maybe...

I thought that if you had legitimate reason then you could request the name and addresses of former keepers of cars direct from the DVLA. You have to pay a small fee and you do need to have a good reason for requesting it but if you explain about the fraud and what the car has to do with it you may be in with a chance of getting his details. Even if it is was not registered to him I assume it will be now to the new owner, so you will have someone to put pressure on in order to find out who this guy is and where he is.

Whether online or not fraud is fraud. You can get there details from Ebay. There is also a "Verify address" on Ebay if you are the winner which comes in handy.
How did you pay? If it was by credit card or switch they have a duty to refund you and investigate it themselves. It can be time consuming but they do pay out in the end. Thumbs Up

They are fobbing you off, it's only a civil matter if you have his details & pursue him through the small claims court for the return of your money.

What he has done is theft, contrary to section 1 of the 1968 theft Act. From the CPS website (www.cps.gov.uk - may give you some guidance about the legal criminal side of things):

"The offence consists of dishonest appropriation of property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it.

Theft is an either-way offence, which carries a penalty on conviction on indictment of up to seven years imprisonment. On summary conviction it carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to six months and/or a fine of up to the statutory maximum."

In this case, the property is your money.

Go back to the Police. Tell them you wish to make a complaint, quote the Act if you want, they HAVE to take a statement from you and make every attempt to track this guy down. They also have to tell you what steps they have taken to find him based on the information you have supplied.

You do have legal redress here, although like others I can't help wondering why you have left it so long to act on this?

Good luck.

Get someone who's good at blagging.. to give him a call and say that their mate told them he has some good cars in stock and that you need to buy one soon, can I have the address to come view your cars.. might get lucky... if he's a dealer/garage he probably won't think twice to giving his address out that way.

If you have a landline number and an e-mail address , post them up...
