Hi
Not sure of the style of brake switch on the KMX, but presume you have a spring from the lever to the switch and it is this spring that is heating up. If so it suggest that the shaft the spring attaches to on the switch is metal and is shorting out internally to the contacts for the brake light switch.
I am also surprised is hasn't popped a fuse, unless that circuit is not protected by a fuse in which case the wiring might be getting a bit toasted.
