Hi

Lots of people sell bikes to fund a different bike. Think it would be easier to do a straight swap for a bike of the same value instead of try sell? Always people out there looking to upgrade or downsize

It's usually more complicated than a straight swap. Two people rarely value their bikes the same, especially when it comes down to mods and all. Also in depends entirely on the condition and the service history.

Doing one tomorrow Laughing

Despite what Paddy says swaps are very rare. Swaps only work if each think they are getting a good deal. From what I understand Paddy has ended up with at least 1 dog of a bike through a straight swap. Its honestly easier to sell.

Also if you're offering a swap, people will think there is something wrong with it, for the above reasons. Selling is safer, easier and allows you more choice.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Oh definitely, quite a rare affair, I am just happy with getting whatever. I'm not overly fussed if its shit or not, I just like the variety.

Definitely got 1 stunning bike, 1 50/50 and 1 pretty much wish I'd set it on fire on day 1. Laughing

For example, the bike I'm swapping tomorrow has been pretty much bomb proof and faultless since I have owned it, just passed its MOT with silly advisories about chain being a little loose Laughing The other person is getting a damn reliable bike, what I'll get is another matter but personally, I don't mind, its a track bike in my eyes.

It might be 2 tomorrow :-p

Me and Paddy are swapping bikes, he wants a toy to throw around a track, I've realised the folly of my ways and figured out that a ZXR is not the best commuter tool.

I had a couple of offers for the bike, but I know paddy's Vara is reliable, and I'm terrible at looking for bikes, so went for the swap.

Most times, yes, it is easier to sell, but in certain very specific scenarios like this, a swap works out well.

Costs nothing to stick it on Gumtree, I got (very) lucky with a swap on there.

Ten years ago when 17, I swapped my '02 NSR125 for G's '01 ZX6R. It was a very unique ZX6R as it had a dent in the frame from a cat's eye, but it was still very excellent and lots of fun was had. Mr. Green

I think that it was a good deal for me and for G.

don't think I'll get any takers though.
