Quick simple question which I can't find an answer for,
Since trikes being changed to category A does that mean that a bike insurance policy with "other bike cover" would include trikes?
Would I be covered on a trike with my bike insurance?
Maybe a daft question but the whole licencing rules are complicated so anything could be possible.
Cheers.

A tricycle isn't a bicycle anymore than a car is a bicycle.

The world's smallest violin player, just for you!

Have you considered asking your insurance company?

I figured I would have a go asking here since there's loads of members and there's a chance someone knows, if not then no bother, I'll ask my insurance,
I've been a member here for a long time and asked loads of questions and all I ever seem to get is a daft or pointless answer and never any help, where's the sense of community gone? Lol bikers usually help other bikers yet in here it's always hostility.
Like I said, if nobody knows then I'll just ask my insurance, although I'm fairly sure they will reply with "I'm not sure, we will back to you" and they never will, then I'll be back here again asking for a better insurance company lol

Haha nah I'm impatient and didn't want to wait until Monday to find out,
Thanks anyways for the advice and if anyone does know then please do post.

Oooh, ooh, I know the answer.

The answer is that nobody knows except your underwriter and you. It's entirely down to the contract of insurance that they drew up and that you agreed to, or at least their interpretation of it. All underwriters are different and you didn't tell us who yours is.

That's not the answer you were looking for, but it's an accurate one.

To paraphrase rogerborg I'd expect it to vary between insurers and therefore only they have the answer.

This is pretty much exactly the type of answer I was looking for, it guided me in the right direction and helped.
Thanks for your post.

Thinking

So what if you ride a bike on your car policy then crash it? Could they go "lol, no pay out for you" because they're a car insurer, even though the policy says "vehicle" not "car"?

There would be no 'payout for you' anyway as the vehicle isn't covered. If you damaged someone's property or injured them then that would be picked up under the RTA cover
