It's nearly the end of the year. I wonder what are everybody's motorcycling plans for 2014. I'm talking about plans, not dreams Wink Any new bike purchase? Track days? Travel? Project? Something else?

I still kinda feel the financial burden caused by my 2nd child born earlier this year and there was no way to save money really. I paid quite a bit to improve bits and bobs in my current bike. So my plans are very modest:
-I will be keeping ZX-6R J2 as a road and track bike for another year, no bike purchase expected.
-I'd like to do about 10 track days.
-If money allows I'd like to ride to Spain.

What are yours?

My plans for the year bike wise is keeping the XJ6N. Well it was brand new and its great for instructing. Speaking of which my plan is to continue instructing and earn my Cardington DSA warrant and then hopefully get my blue DAS warrant by the end of the year.

This year I shall be making the BCF May Day ride out as I couldnt last year with lack of bike. And this year I WILL NOT be getting lost on said ride out.

Try to make it another year without dropping the bike / crashing/ dying.

I would like to get an Africa Twin, but I dont see that happening anytime soon.

Planning my first Europe tour - finally got to the top of my "must-do" list. I have ridden in Europe before, but didn't make the most of my time there.
Planning a couple of major mods to the bike (FZS1000) - R1 USD fork conversion and R6 rear shock.
That's it as far as planned stuff goes. Quite achievable targets for my limited finances. Plus, ride, ride, ride! Smile

It's high on my list too. Last year I didn't quite manage to go to Spain. I enjoyed some wild camping in Scottish Highlands instead. But I've learnt a lot there and I won't make same mistakes when I go camping/wild camping abroad.

Have just bought the track bike... so intend to get round some UK tracks and maybe some in EU.

Take up offroading more... so have bought a KTM and that should be back with me in a week or 2.

Not dying doing either would be beneficial.

Well if you don't get lost, someone else will Thumbs Up

And don't you dare be giving any 'CBT' pointers, you know how spirited our rides can get Laughing

Personally - I plan to ride my CBR as I have been.

Keeping the FZ6 and the Pan.

I've booked to go over to the IOM (on the Pan) for a few days during the TT practice week and that is the only definite.

Most probably the Hastings and Brighton runs on the FZ6.

I'd like to do EU tracks, but I haven't been to all UK tracks yet to be honest. Cadwell Park, Silverstone, Anglesey are high on my to-do list. I love Snetterton 300 so probably go there a few times. I leave EU tracks for Winter time.. but not from this Winter.

I will most likely keep the vfr750, although if I manage to save up some spare cash I'd be eying up a zx6r. I am aiming to do at least 1 euro trip, 1 track day and a trip to Scotland. Just generally get more miles done.

Sort the fuelling.
Ride more.
More camping trips/BBQ sessions/chip trips to the coast.
If not complete, make some progress on the bike computer project.

If I don't sell it and get something else Smile

Get the VFR painted black. Get a high level exhaust mid-section bent up for the VFR. Get the Enfield painted white. Go to the Dragon rally. Make a trailer for the Enfield. Go to a European rally, either Crimmitschau Ratbikes or the Dutch Hardly Rideables.

Go to France again for a holiday, take the bike in the back of the van. Return home stacked to the roof with wine, and a French autocycle.

I'll be keeping the NC700 but will start to look at some candidates for my next bike at the end of the year, when I'm hoping to finally get to the motorcycle show in Birmingham. I'm not planning on actually buying a new bike until 2015, though.

Will be taking some training in April on "machine control" and hoping to start RoSPA training.

I'm taking the Mrs. to Scotland later in the spring (mid to late-May-ish) for a much-delayed 25th wedding anniversary trip. (It was delayed from this year because of the birth of a grandchild.) We're looking at basing ourselves around Glencoe for a few nights, explore the area, then on to Skye for a night or two.

I will be spending my normal two weeks in the south east of Ireland in August, but will bring the motorcycle this time.

Oh, and not die. But that goes without saying.

To finally get that 125 in the back of the garage MOT'd and use it occasionally especially for work, no plans to change my big bike, i forecast money being spent on trips rather than on the bike - Thruxton BSB booked already so at least one trip to look forward too plus i've heard of too many bikes being stolen recently which puts me off purchasing anything too expensive

Get riding again is the priority at the moment... Been about 3 months since I SORNed it, absolutely hating not being able to ride.

Possibly downgrading the bike to something a bit more useable as well. Want a simple n tatty 500-600 that I don't need to worry about being nicked or getting a bit rusty - in which case I intend to ride a lot more in all weathers/commute with it more often when possible.

Want to try do some off-road experience days as well to see if I could get into off-roading as its always interested me but I've yet to get round to actually doing it.

And going off into dream territory a bit - big europe trip in summer.

Buy a wee cheap pitbike and become a yob.

Get a project bike to learn hands on the mechanical and electrical of bikes.

Also, Theory and A2 licence for summer time.

Will be a wee L plate cbf for the mean time.

Try and hit 40k on the Sinnis. Currently shows no signs of slowing at 20k, was told long ago your average 125 lasts 25k and either crashes or breaks about then. I don't see anything major breaking on it any time soon. Though I do need to stop ragging it on so many motorways. Also need to slow down when I see a speed bump and not accelerate over them. Definatley need to stop taking it up green lanes as well, its not a bike designed for that. Hmmm....

Thinking

Eh... I would settle for 30k.... Smile
