this is a bit confusing, but not a problem:

i just turned the fuel tap off on my tzr while it is running to see what effect it would have (obviously it would stop) but what i didnt expect is that right at the end, the idle speed rises to about 4 - 5000 rpm, then stops

its not that it bothers me as i am not going to switch it off while riding, just curious - possibly running more lean for a last 10 seconds or so?

any real explanation?

cheers

Its to do with the mixture of fuel / air, when you have turned the fuel off right at end it will run lean this in turn increases the revs.

Kickstart any more info? Very Happy

Hi

No more info, but it does seem to be quite common.

All the best

Yeah its obviouslly just going lean ie less fuel per air and thus revving.

Note that going lean will also make it go hot so you wouldnt want to do that too often.

ah rite ok then, but if i am going to run out if fuel then it is going to happen and i cannot really help it

yes i guess if i turned it off then razzled it to 12k revs then it would blow, but that isnt something im goin to do

cheers for your input

Maximum power is produced on a slightly lean mix, so for a constant throttle opening and load (idle) the revs will pick up as the mix leans out from fuel starvation.
