Just a quick question, are all cage drivers idiots? I ask because the amount of times I have somebody right up my arse or flicking fags out the window or purposely turning on screen wash. They never indicate and love to never give way. Bikers on the other hand always nod and even had a lady on a ninja stop to check I was OK when I was pulled up by the side of the road.

Makes me wish I had a bigger bike so I could take off some wing mirrors and ride off into the sunset. Laughing

Nobbers on bikes and in cars.

Personally I've found most car drivers to be alright/inept. Very few are downright hostile.

More bikes get on my nerves in traffic than cars and there are less of them. Biking does attract a lot of twats to be fair.

99% of people don't realise, it's not that they're targeting you.

Not worth bawling over, you'll soon learn to ignore it!

And forget smashing mirrors off, if you get caught at the next set of lights/junction whatever then you are far more vulnerable!

Chill out.

I find that car drivers appear very inept when I ride like a dick. If I ride sensibly with plenty of anticipation and defensive riding I rarely see moronity on the scale you're talking about.

Sometimes the common factor is you and not everyone else.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

You got her number right?

Most car drivers they don't understand they are annoying bikes with fags butts or window wash as they don't even comprehend that it will hit bikes. Tbh if I didn't ride a bike I would never of thought about it.

You can tell what car drivers ride bikes though... I always pull over to the left to ease filtering etc

Most annoying thing for me aside of them attempting to kill me sometimes is definitely when they sit on the middle of the road lines so it's harder to filter Evil or Very Mad

Also this, touch wood I seem to anticipate most errors that are about to happen, you can sense for example a car drivers about to pull a U turn if there's a long traffic queue where there normally isn't one and can see there heads bobbling about trying to look ahead. That is one of many examples that get my smidsy senses tingling Thumbs Up

Dont forget that many of us drive cars as well as ride bikes, I like to think that when I'm in the car I treat bikes with the respect they deserve but some twats dont deserve respect (Cars and bikes)

I agree, had a 125 fly past me when I was doing 30 in a 30 didnt even see him coming. Guys like that I only guess they feel like they have something to prove.

And the wing mirrors I don't think I would ever do it just as someone said I seem to feel they are targeting me, when maybe that's not even the case.

You have to work on the basis that every car driver is a gobshite liable to do something stupid with no warning. Now and then you're pleasantly surprised. But a large percentage of drivers think they have some kind of right of way over bikes on the basis that their vehicle is bigger.

I find that the larger the bike I'm on, the less liberties they take. So life can be quite fraught when commuting on my little 100. But I try to give the buggers a bit back, when the opportunity arises Twisted Evil

I suppose your right
Its not like my bike can't hit NSL so I don't see the problem. Don't help the CBR is rather skinny

Probably not, maybe he had somewhere to go or was choosing not to obey the speed limit for whatever reason.

Again it looks like you think you're the victim or you think people are trying to get one up you. But really, they're not.

I fly past a few 125's and scooters on my way to work, and its not because I see them and wind open the throttle, it's because I've been going that fast for the previous XX miles of my journey and I'm carrying on at that speed. Same with filtering, there's a couple of people on my way home who don't filter through the traffic. Fine, fuck all to do with me but I am going to filter as I want to go home!

When I rode a bicycle I thought car drivers & motorcyclists were cocks.
Then I drove a car and though cyclists & motorcyclists were cocks.
Then I rode a motorbike and finally realised, humans are cocks. The mode of transport they choose does not effect this.

Biking might attract it's fair share of twats but at least they can't text, make calls, put make up on or read a book/newspaper whilst enroute unlike the fucking morons in cars I've seen do just that.
Driving the van to work recently saw some cock in a mondeo with a book open on his steering wheel reading at about 60mph on the motorway nearly spat my beer out I was that shocked Shocked

From what I can tell, you mostly seem to be complaining that car drivers don't realise you're there riding a bike.

I wonder how that could happen Confused.

There are some useless morons out there and they don't care what vehicle you're driving. I actually get more problems when driving my (large) work van than I do when on the bike. The benefits of the nimble motorcycle vs being in a large, lumbering vehicle are often understated.

This +1000

My easiest filtering days were on the Tuono. Due to raised bars vs a sportsbike, the mirrors were above most car mirrors. Then add the noise of a big v-twin with a stupidly loud exhaust meant most cars knew you were coming with plenty of time.
Many more cars moved out of the way on that than any other bike i've filtered with. Sometimes they endangered themselves because they couldn't get out of the way quick enough Confused

People who are slower than you are idiots, people who are faster than you are maniacs, right?

It's been a very long time since I've been upset by someone in a car. You get certain character types and you deal with them. If someone is coming up fast behind you, especially at ~50 in a 30 zone, it just makes more sense to pull in and let them past. If someone is hovering in a junction in a 30 zone, 10% of the time they're going to pull out as if they didn't see you. You simply plan such that you can handle it either way. Cars will run red lights at the tail end of the sequence maybe 20% of the time; so you look and make sure they've stopped when your light goes green. If you're approaching a bunch of cars on the motorway in the overtaking lane, one of them is likely to pull out even as you approach; so you slow down, move to the lane to the right, ride in the right of the lane, whatever it takes to handle what can reasonably be expected to occur. Etc.

Don't worry, it's one of the well known problems with biking is that the brain tends to look for the dangers it knows - riding a bike we can easily be blanked out even when people look straight at us.

"He came out of nowhere" is more true than you might give credence for from what people 'see' (not what is there).

Especially in winter times when a bike can easily fizzle in to the background mush of bad weather, low sun, poor light and headlight dazzle.

Lets say they were going 30mph faster than you - they should have been 67 meters behind you. So you should have been able to see them ok if checking every 5 seconds as you claim.

Smart phones have made things much worse IMO.

Text messages have been around for over decade now but it never seemed as big a problem until recent years.

To be fair, crawling along the motorway at 55-60 is bloody boring. A game of Angry birds passes the time an absolute treat.
