Aye, no duty on used parts under a certain value, I think it's $14 US but don't quote me on that. How long it takes depends on where in The States it's coming from and which service. I bought some clothes from eBay USA on 18th of December and they were here yesterday, and they were sent from LA so that's pretty good going. Many eBay US sellers seem a bit ignorant of International post and tend to overcharge and use the wrong postal services for a quick delivery. USPS First Class Mail Int is the one you want for smaller stuff - cheap and quick. Also, a lot of the US sellers don't like the idea of telling porkies on the customs slip, even though the responsibility is down the the recipient
Never had anything fail to turn up, unlike the scummy seller on eBay UK just before Xmas who decided my winning bid wasn't enough and lied through his teeth to get out of completing the transaction

You are right but you are also wrong. You seem to have a very strange view that this would only be a crime in this country, a customs declaration is a legal document and as it would be a US customs declaration they would be signing...
| Quote: | 18 U.S.C. § 1341 provides:
Whoever, having devised or intending to devise any scheme or artifice to defraud, or for obtaining money or property by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises, or to sell, dispose of, loan, exchange, alter, give away, distribute, supply, or furnish or procure for unlawful use any counterfeit or spurious coin, obligation, security, or other article, or anything represented to be or intimated or held out to be such counterfeit or spurious article, for the purpose of executing such scheme or artifice or attempting so to do, places in any post office or authorized depository for mail matter, any matter or thing whatever to be sent or delivered by the Postal Service, or deposits or causes to be deposited any matter or thing whatever to be sent or delivered by any private or commercial interstate carrier, or takes or receives therefrom, any such matter or thing, or knowingly causes to be delivered by mail or such carrier according to the direction thereon, or at the place at which it is directed to be delivered by the person to whom it is addressed, any such matter or thing, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both. If the violation occurs in relation to, or involving any benefit authorized, transported, transmitted, transferred, disbursed, or paid in connection with, a Presidential declared major disaster or emergency (as those terms are defined in section 102 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5122)), or affects a financial institution, such person shall be fined not more than $1,000,000 or imprisoned not more than 30 years, or both.[2] |
Read it closely and realise that you are wrong, then read it again and realise you are asking the person to risk 20 years then feel free to tell us yet again (well it would be again if you had said the numerous other times you were wrong) that you are wrong.

And how would they get caught? Do you think there are thousands of people massing on the East Coast, opening up all parcels with used bike parts in them and then researching them gawd knows where to find out the true value? Get real Buddy ____________________ Space Is Deep

Ooh yeah.......... really serious I think US border officers have more serious shit to worry about than someone declaring too low a value on 20 bucks worth of used bike parts.
What's up, nobody else to pick on and try and belittle tonight? ____________________ Space Is Deep |

I got an "Awesome Employee of the Quarter" award from a US company I was working for remotely at the time.
They sent the award in the mail.
I ended up having to pay 20 GBP or so to get this lump of acrylic delivered! ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4
