Strange things do pop up in there, the other day there was something about anti-smoking campaigner dies of cancer but it was about ten years ago.

He wrote that. It's by a long way the best known and most successful quit smoking book. I expect a surge in interest in the book lead to googling and i expect the BBC news page on his death came top quite a lot.

The sadam one had me baffled. 80% of BBC news traffic is from the UK, the rest from europe, Canada, USA and Australia. So i really don't see the cause for increased interest. The only thing that comes to mind is the talk of declassifying the blair-bush communications in the run up to the war.

I suspect the name being similar to a reasonably well known comedian had some bearing in attracting yet more hits too.

As for Saddam, who knows...
