I'm a JB fan ... that's James Blunt, not Jive Bunny Laughing
He does the whole twitter thing himself, he's mentioned it a few times during interviews.
Although I'm biased, he's a nicer bloke than the media makes him out to be. I think the majority would agree if they did abit of reading Thumbs Up

Saved me saying it.

I could spend an evening in the pub with him just so long as it's not karaoke night.

I've seen him live twice. Unlike most shows he has some character, some of which you can see through his Twitter feed.

With a wonderfully rhyming name like Blunt, the squeaky voice of a 5 year old and 6 years spent in the Army, I'm sure he developed the ability to bat insults and abuse away pretty quickly all by himself. Thumbs Up

^This, was gonna say that a stint in the army alone would give one quite a thick skin, I doubt there's much that could be said that would genuinely ruffle his feathers.

I always liked that 1973 song.

What's all this, 'must be hard coz he was in the army'?

I don't think you have to be in the army to toughen up.

I wonder how many army can work in heavy industry?
Probably not many so they joined the army.

The army doth noteth maketh the maneth.

Whoooaaa, plump up that tampax comrade.

I was merely saying that squaddie humour is typically a grade above your average put-downs, so some schlaag on twitter saying "I fink ur a tw@" won't have him sobbing into his pillow on a cold winters night.

I don't think it's anything to do with the actual physical side of being in the army, more the fact you're working with loads of guys who pass the time by constantly ripping into each other. I'm sure it's the same for rig workers, miners, fisherman etc. Anything where you're away doing a sometimes shitty job, in shitty places with a bunch of others 24/7 for months at a time.

Certainly toughened me up, anyway! I'm a lot different to now I was before I joined up.

Tampon FYI. Very Happy

There you go again, 'Squaddie Humour'.
We have annihilated ex-army types in the coffee shop. Smile I don't mean gang trolled either simple one-on-one too. Wink
They can give as good as they get but they are NOT privy to some secret slagging sect.
And even the 'battle hardened' have had the lip on for a few days after a wee bit of camaraderie and bantuhr.

I assume he gets quite a few commenters. It's not that difficult to produce a decent comeback when you can pick and choose who to reply to.

From what I've seen he does have quite a sharp sense of humour anyway.

The radio playing Beautiful over and over and over made me hate him, but seeing him on Buzzcocks and Top Gear made me like him. I suspect it's a similar thing to Hugh Grant - pandering to the women's magazines fawning over him being a 'hunk' because it makes him money, when he's actually nothing like they're imagining he is. The same sort of drivel made me think George Clooney was a plonker until I saw Three Kings.

Plus, the legend of how Blunt prevented WW3 from kicking off in Bosnia was entertaining.

Presuming its not a little media-savvy twitter PR team at work, quite amusing and decent responses, made me laugh either way Laughing

Not a fan of the music, but I could listen to him retaliating to people like that all day for amusement based on that Thumbs Up
