Any chance I can get a quick opinion of you guys on this? Supposed to be serving the claim today and they've made some major changes to the claim without consulting me. |

Yes, I'd say bikes lose more value as crash repaired than cars.
Bikers generally avoid bikes that have been crash repaired since you never really know it's perfectly ok to thrash across germany at 150mph.
I'd buy crash damaged for simple economics, i do a lot of miles and bikes are often scrap within 9 months.
The bike I have now was stolen, dropped and repainted. Because of this I got it for probably two thirds of what it would have sold for without the damage repair history. ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? Of Course (as if you didnt know)
I bought a cat D (just panels replaced) in September wasn't advertised as such, I found this out on a search, told the bloke I was still interested but not at the advertised price the very best I would go to was about 60% of this, he said still come, I did, & bought it for a few hundred less than advertised
I bought a stolen & recovered bike about 8 years for about 50% of its worth (might have been jinxed as that was the one I lost my leg on ) ____________________ The light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train!

Personally I'd be more worried about having a car that's been written off than a bike. A poor repair on a car could affect the crumple zones, on a bike the only crumple zone's your face, so if it's been repaired & rides ok I don't see what the problem's.
However I also think it's a bit $hit how the person who crashes can buy their vehicle back cheap, repair it, then it's every future owner who has to suffer with trying to sell it on (maybe buying it unaware it was a write off in the first place). ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

IME a bike that's been crashed (not just dropped, but crashed into something, or something crashed into it) is never quite 100% correct again, unless possibly you go to extreme lengths and e.g. put the frame in a jig to ensure it's spot on.
All the bikes I've had, except for those I got almost new, have been dropped or crashed. They inevitably have a slightly asymmetrical feel somewhere, or have measurably off bits. My current VFR's right steering lock is a bit closer to the tank than the left steering lock, and the oil cooler's pipes are much closer to the fairing on one side than the other. But it doesn't pull to one side, not at speed in any case.
My current SH was never dropped until a car did a turn into me (into a dropped curb) as I was overtaking at 25mph. It had all the damaged panels replaced, as well as the steering stem and fork stanchions. But it's not 100%, I suspect the handlebars are a few mm out, and I can see the mirror stalk isn't spot on in its hole in the handlebar fairing, and it pulls ever so slightly to one side, and it has a tendency to preferentially wobble to one side as I land after getting air on speed bumps, but getting all this fixed - and the insurance repairers to acknowledge it - is more trouble than it's worth. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4
