Right you intelligent lot.
I got my CG brazilian back from the mechanic and its all super, but he recommended that I find a new carb as the one on it is in a bit of a state.
Could anyone inform me what carb is on this bike? (1990 model)
I've google'd it but to no result. If I can find out what make/size it is, then I'll be able to find one no problem.
Thanks in advance to any help.

Yeah. I will. But I need to find out what carb it is and whether its different to any of the more modern versions. I've been looking around breakers web sites and most of them only have carbs for the CG CDI model.
I think I best consult David Silver spares, or my friends Haynes manual. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

Could you explain WHY you need a new carb, I wouldn't change it just on the say so of a mechanic. |

Because its a big blob of corrosion.
Dont worry, he's a reliable mechanic.
Besides, carbs arent expensive and come by quite often on ebay and breakers. I just need to know whether one from a newer model will bolt into my old Brazilian.

I can go and look at my Mums '93 Brazilian model in the garage outside tomorrow (later today, why am I up at this time? ) Failing that, we've a Haynes manual for it somewhere in which I can have a gander.
No guarantees that the '93 is the same as the '90, but I don't see too many reasons why not at the minute. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Get carb/take apart, put in Coke (as in a-cola coke) , wait a few hours. Good for cleaning.
More cleaning and put it together. Done. |

From the Haynes manual:
Carburettor
Machine: CG125 (BR)-E/F, J
ID number: PD47C-A or D-A
Main jet: 90 (95*)
Pilot (slow) jet: 38
Needle jet: E2052J (E2352H*)
Needle jet clip position - grooves from top: 4th (2nd)
Pilot screw - turns out from fully closed: 1 3/8
Float height: 14.0 mm (0.55 in)
Idle speed: 1400 +- 100 rpm
Machine: CG125 (BR)-K
ID number: PD47F
Main jet: 95
Pilot (slow) jet: 35
Needle jet: not available
Needle jet clip position - grooves from top: not available
Pilot screw - turns out from fully closed: 1 1/2
Float height: 14.0 mm (0.55 in)
Idle speed: 1400 +- 100 rpm
Those are directly lifted from the Haynes manual. The asterisk refers to the section of the manual dealing with the carburettor overhaul, so it'd be easier just to see the manual for those.
If you go to a decent spares place and tell them exactly what you want (a carburettor for a '90 CG125 (BR) -?) then they should be able to work out exactly what you need. I was mistaken saying that it was a '93 model apparently, H is '91. ____________________ I must not be a troll...

Thanks for the above.
Mines also a H reg, but on the frame, I believe it says "BR-J."
I may take the carb out through the week, give it a thorough cleaning then try get it back to its standard settings.
Thanks for the information though, much appreciated. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |
