I'm gonna replace all the pads soon and I've had a quick look at a few different makes but I was wondering which ones to go for.
I've seen a complete set of GoldFren sintered pads on ebay for £36 delivered which looks to be a good deal but I need to know if they're gonna be shit.

I think I'm running the Zed on GoldFren's at the moment. Used them before on various, too, and don't recall any faeces. Wink

(In fact the only set of pads I've ever had problems with were EBC and they'd been well and truly used/abused when one of the pads let go off it's steel back.)

If you don't ride hard or expect to have to stop quickly GoldFren are very cheap

If a car pulls out on you and you cannot stop because you have cheap pads fitted it was a poor gamble

If you want decent brakes buy good pads OEM EBC Brembo etc
On more powerful / Heavy bikes and for hard riding use fully sintered hard on the disks but you stop

Avoid GoldFren Keyo etc

I've recently put EBC's on mine and am happy with them.
I wouldn't buy from ebay though, get them from a dealer (shop)

Just for what it's worth, if you have EBC discs their warranty is only valid if you use EBC pads.

Other than that, for me OEM every time, you'd probably be surprised how cheap they probably are.

I'm a Goldfren/Kyoto pads guy, they are cheap and they last long enough.

If braking was my primary concern, I'd probably fork out, the brakes on my TTR were Brembo with matching pads and they were good for stoppies. Laughing

EBC look to be a decent balance between price (half of the OEM cost) and quality, now I just have to pop the old pads out and give 'em a measure. Wink

Got Goldfrens in my FZR. Replace the 18 year old originals and are a significant improvement. Love them! Not saying they are going to be better than Brembo etc. but for a budget pad, Can't fault them

I like Brembo pads, but I'd have no problem using goldfren if budget was a concern.

I tend to dislike EBC pads.

Not really on topic but my old mans 1200 bandit has 42,000 and it's still on the original front pads.

They're fine.

The only pads I really avoid are Kyoto standard ones. They are very cheap, but I managed to wear out a set about 1000 miles on a CB500, with shit brakes the whole time. Swapped them for a set of OE Honda pads and the difference was incredible.

I'm not aware of any brand of sintered pad to avoid.

11000 miles and the pads were down to the wear markers

The front pads on my R1 are still the originals after 25,000 miles and there is still a significant amount of friction material left.I have some Ferodo sintered ready to go in as and when required.

I have been using Ferodo pads for years now with good feel and hot/cold/wet stopping power and have a general distrust of EBC shoes and pads after a bad experience of both. There are some Gold Fren pads in my KTM spares box but I am not sure if I will bother with them after reading some hit/miss situations with people using them.

I have heard good things about Carbon Lorraine and SBS pads.

Vesrah pads I would not use even if they were free Thumbs Down

SBS, Ferodo SinterGrip, Bendix.

All are good.

I dislike EBC pads, had the pad material separate from the backing plate on more than one set.

Goldfren are 'ok' for the money.
