Screens on a 125 - is there benefit?

Been going out for a few hours at a time on the bike and come back with body fatigue, feel really tired… presumably from trying to hold the bike up. Its been really windy recently too I know but would a screen improve this or is the difference negligible? Is it normal to feel that tired after a ride or something you get used to?

I find having a small screen does slightly deflect the air up. But it hits around my neck/chest, when it rains this is noticeable compared to the other 125's I had without.

I wouldn't worry about getting a screen, just keep riding and get bike fit. Plus maybe don't hold on so tight, even if it seems windy, relax, you won't be so knackered.

When I got this 125 in 2011, 90mins would be about my limit. Now its more like 9 hours in the seat.

Yeah instructer said relax and loosen up when its windy but sometimes hard not to when you think you're gonna tip over. Not that it would make much difference as the bike would just go over anyway!

Quite the opposite, a decent screen should increase top speed and decrease fuel consumption. On a bike the rider is the least aerodynamic part.

I had a xj1100 and was using it to ride between Kent and Oxfordshire. The wind blast was horrific until I fitted a small screen which was actually a cut-up Hayabusa screen and a few brackets. Made a world of difference to the strain on my neck.

On a 125 learning to relax will be more beneficial than a screen, the handlebars and the controls fitted to them should be treated as a precision instrument and handled with minimum force. In the unlikely event that you need to hang on tight on a 125 grip the tank with your knees.

At anything above 30 mph a screen will make a big difference. The only issue will be that, on a lot of bikes, you use the wind blast to take the weight off your wrists. If you put a screen on and sit inside a bubble, the stress on your wrists will go up.

Double bubble on my R125 made a very noticable difference at speed... I say 'speed' in the calmest, strained, near-legal-limit sense of the word But yes it helps, for the 20 quid I paid for my screen it was definately worth it.

People recommend the Puig screen which is about £40 but i have to say i do prefer the ybr original one but not sure i can justify it at double the price!

I recently had this thought process myself.

But in the end, I found a genuine (but used) Yamaha YBR125 '06 screen going on eBay for £20 so I thought I might as well give it a shot.

Thing is, although the product description said it was fully functional, well, as you can see I wouldn't put this on my bike without adding some structural integrity to it!

Hopefully, I will have had it fixed and will soon be able to give you a first hand answer of whether or not I found it useful

PS, eBay seller offered a refund as they were misleading, but I thought for how cheap I got it, I'd see what I can do with it first.

I've got a genuine YBR screen in the shed somewhere that isn't being used.

It's got a scuff on it though.

from the little riding ive done so far imho a big screen makes its easier at high speeds, in my case thats anything over 50
