I don't know about Mammoth locks but I'm sure a Mammoth would sh*t up anyone who tried to steal your bike.

The two big names in locks are Abloy and Squire.

Wouldnt bother with anything but almax personally. Maybe others that are good out there but almax has such good feedback its the safest bet.

mammoth locks are bulk bought chinese rubbish

dealers love them because they can buy disc locks for between 3 and £5 and sell them for £10-£15 and more

The reality about locks/chains etc for bike security is that the only buggers they'll put off are the opportunist thieves, some 'pond-life' walking by wishing to 'try his luck' that's why I usually use a push-bike cable-lock thingy, it's enough to put this shit off. If some twat's really serious about nicking your bike he'll have a van and a mate and they'll lift it wholesale unless it's chained to a post or something like it and they'll probably have a battery angle-grinder to see to that anyway. Anti-theft devices convince the bike owners more than discourage thieves, but you've got to have something.

Mammoth might be cheap shit with a big markup, but are Squire and Abloy better?

More likely to be smashed or have the shackle cropped, I'd imagine. How well do any of them stand up to that? Seen any evidence?

For those that don't know, the "lockpicked in x seconds" videos are bullshit. It's their lock, they've practiced, they know the pin release order. Once you know that then it's easier but it takes time to learn that, they never show how long it takes them to learn.

It will be quicker to cut an almax chain/squire padlock, than to pick it for the first time. Each lock is unique.

I can pick cheap brass padlocks in seconds and front door locks in a few mins but not even ready to start on the squire yet... tried for about an hour so far with no luck.

I got a Mammoth chain free with the YBR, it seems to be a generic 10mm affair which serves only as a psychological deterrent. Any determined chav with strong jaws could probably bite right through it.

Squire SS65C has been picked, video above thats enough proof for me not to use them.

No videos of ABloy PL362 picked as yet so i am happy with that
