I'd pay £600 max, but that's just my opinion.

Doesn't look like too much work if you have the time.

No. It needs work, I don't do mechanical things, let alone make a bike rideable.

Seems odd, if he thinks it's worth £3,500 why doesn't he put it back together? That's £2,500 he's throwing away, I would make time for that. What would worry me is the potential for bits to be missing or broken.

I'd probably offer £350-:£400. Got to think about getting it home, no fairing? and most the parts that are exposed will need replacing.
OP, are you considering it?

The way I read it, the fuel tank, seat, fairings front fork and wheel are all missing. Presumably sold off by the thieves. Quite possibly stolen to order for someone that had crashed theirs?

Presumabaly they bought it back for £notmuch and don't feel like going after all the stuff for it.

£1k seems a good bit too high.
Have a look on copart to see what sort of similar prices they are going for - and generally copart auctions end up pretty high as it is I'd say.

I'd be prepared to shell out much less than scrap value for that. The potential for missing parts is endless. Who'd have thought that a bike had so many bits?

First off, 'scrap' value (as in if you take it to a metal scrap yard) will be maybe £25?
It's definitely worth way more than that all day long.

You should be able to get an idea of what's missing.

At that price they're hoping to get someone to buy it to do up I suspect.

More reasonably it would be bought by someone to sell for parts, but unlikely they'd pay that much.

A 2008 ER6 engine with similar miles sold for £750 on ebay and a rear wheel for £130.
If you happened to need a new engine, looks like £1k would be an ok deal, especially if you actually knocked them down to £900, say. That's presuming you were happy to sell the rest of the stuff off.

So from that, actually... while under £750 would be a good price, doesn't seem likely.

If he broke it and sold the individual parts he'd probably get closer to a grand...

Judging by the above, if he took the time to sell every single bit, I wouldn't be surprised if the total came to nearer £2k.
You could get £1k fairly easily from selling three parts.

A) seeing that an engine alone is selling for £750, he's unlikely to sell for less than that.
B) how much would you expect to spend on the rest of the bits you need. I can see that buying them separately would easily come to £1k or so looking at general prices for these bikes.

With the cost of the bits you need added on you could just go and buy a good condition one. Really doesn't seem worth it to me

Could be worth it if you could find a write off to cannibalise that's only been damaged at the rear?
