Hello I'm new to this and basically I'm just wondering if food/beer is cheap or expensive, I'm planning a trip there, also what is there to do?

Thanks

Nath

Hi

Long time since I worked there, but back then beer in pubs wasn't really that much different to the UK price wise, but eating out was quite expensive. Food from supermarkets was a bit cheaper and beer in supermarkets was pretty cheap,

All the best

Keith

Pretty much the same as everywhere else, not an expensive place to go, unless you head for a posh nosh venue.

Beer is cheaper than here and plenty of decent choice.

In and around Grand-place is a decent place to start your quest.

Ok mate, I take it you've been to many places, where would you recommend a few lads 20-25 years of age to go for a weekend for beer? Well a cheap weekend on our bikes?

Thanks

There is a lot in brussels for a tourist on the lash, might be a bit on the expensive side for accommodation within walking distance.

I'd go for a town elsewhere, traffic is usually bad in brussels, the roads are not that great,

Another 100 miles would put you in Germany, better roads and somewhere like Cologne will offer as much on the beer front for similar money but also cheaper digs.

Thanks

What are the people like in cologne as I've been to Stuttgart and they didn't want to know us and felt unsafe in bars as we was getting stared at, any other places you would recommend?

And I looked at a hotel for 3 nights in Brussels and fount one for 150 which I didn't think was too bad! But the parking charges are expensive, most hotels want 20-30 euro and I like to keep my bike in a secure location, I often use f1 hotels

The time it takes from Calais to Brussels if you add another one and a half hours riding you will be in Amsterdam. Even less if you go Rotterdam. No been to Rotterdam for years but I am told its like an Amsterdam light.

Amsterdam is expensive as well, parking charges are obscene and rooms expensive.

How about a shocker?

Paris?
Lots there, F1's within reach on foot or via the metro and only expensive if you go to that sort of place.

3 hours from Calais, 175 miles ish.

Hi

There are a few F1 hotels around (I used the one in Diegem a few times), but there are a few other hotels in the same areas.

Taxis for a group might not be bad, but the taxi fares go up (double I think) outside the city limits. The Diegem F1 is about half a mile beyond the city limits (Nato HQ is pretty much on the city limit).

Brussels tends to be quiet at the weekend compared to the week.

If you want something non drinking to do, the military museum (at Parc du Cinquantenaire) is worth a look.

All the best

Keith

That is the thing, you can easily spend that on a beer but you don't have to.

I was out there not long ago and dumped the bike locked to some railings, wandered along and got a pizza and a beer for a tenner.

All of that but I would say the Dam is cheaper than Paris. €5 but cheaper as you wander away from the red light. Get a room outside the tram line and the price starts to come down. You will get a twin for around €90 or less. Parking. There is an underground car park at the train station with 24 hour security and CCTV. park the bikes in there in view of the guards room or in front of a camera. Its a pay as you leave and the barrier lifts. Pay for one bike on exit and you will have time to jump four bikes through.

Brussels itself ok just pricy to eat out. Antwerp?

Lived in Overijse for almost 5 years. Flaamse Blok area, they are quite a nice but private type of people.

Wouldn't think the slightly outside places would welcome a big group either.

Northern half generally Ok the more south the more French........

If you fancy Belgium I'd vote leuven.

Only half an hour from Brussels, big student city. Plenty of nightlife.

Yeah, it's pretty dull. It's the Basingstoke of Europe.
