Heated grips without a doubt! They are amazing!

I've heard good things about bar muffs, and tempted to get some as well as my heated grips.

Hi

Tend to find that if gloves are too tight (such as putting an extra thin wool glove on before putting on normal gloves) tends to land up with my hands getting cold. Suspect it is restricting the blood flow slightly.

Heated gloves work to an extent as do heated grips. Or use both.

Decent gloves certainly help. The gloves with a 'finger' for each pair of fingers tend to work well.

Fair few people swear by bar muffs.

All the best

Keith

Are heated gloves any decent? I don't think they would be as the heater is only on the palm of the hand and won't heat up the fingers but don't know how easily heat would travel through the glove.

Anyone had heated gloves?

Hi

Heated grips do work. OK they are not heating your fingers but they are heating the palms of your hands, so probably helping warm the blood flowing through your hands to your fingers.

Gloves can work, but more of a pain to use (as you need to plug yourself into the bike). Also with the ones I have they run quite tightly over the knuckles of my thumbs which is also where a heating element sits. Over a 2 hour journey this cooked the skin over that knuckle.

All the best

Keith

Heated grips and muffs. Though you probably won't need the grips on much.

People will say to keep your core warm and that'll keep your hands warm. It does to certain extent, but not when the wind chill on them get below -30c

I use Oxford heated grips + tucano urbano muffs and I'm nice and warm even after hours worth of riding in the cold. Only put my grips on the low setting usually, as my hands end up wayyy too warm if on the high setting.

Works a treat, and is cheaper than a good winter glove. About £60 total if you look around.

If you only got one though then I'd suggest muffs over heated grips.

there's nothing wrong with your gloves, all thermal lined gloves work by keeping the heat in, but if you have cold hands to start with they won't work.

start with liners, if no good move up to muffs with or without liners and if that's no good then heated grips, once you've moved onto heated grips muffs are still useful, but you won't need the liners

Keep your fingers moving by starting a new thread every 15 minutes.

Muffs. Tucano Urbano are ace, and you're unlikely find them 2nd hand because of it. But any muff is better than nothing, or better than guards. Guards are better than nothing, slightly.

Heated grips. You don't have to make a big investment. These £3.69 heating pads do actually work, and they get the heat to you quickly as they fit over the grips. In conjunction with muffs, you can ride in any gloves you want, or none at all if Paddy.

I personally get by fine most of the time with general winter gloves [spada enforcers], which specifically seem to be hit n' miss in quality based on what people on here have said.

Pair of thin thermal/ski gloves inside is good enough for most temperatures if you aren't riding for hours. No experience with heated grips - muffs are great for temperature, but I find they feel a bit constricting and don't like them personally, but thats riding on a sport bike which might be a factor perhaps.

Been using heated gloves through the last two winters. Love them. Such a nice luxury, I'll even wear them set to low, even when the weather just a tiny bit nipppy.

Yep, a tiny bit of extra hassle plugging the gloves into wires dangling from sleeves and tucking the excess wires up sleeves. Takes me a good 60 seconds these days.

My Gerbings do heat my fingers and back of hands, but the fingers don't get quite as warm as your hands. Either way, this works well as it's your fingers and back of hands that get coldest from wind chill.

Only downer was the reliability of last years model. Gloves and controller went back several times. Gerbing's did turn them round pretty prompt, but still annoying and mounted up on postage. Latest replacement are this years model, loads of improvements and thus far, have been holding up well since October (used every day for work).

Not tried heated grips or muffs to compare. But last winter, when the Gerbing's were being returned, with my Alpinestars Jet Road Goretex gloves and a second pair of liner gloves, I still got painfully numb fingers after 15 minutes on road. Sad

I've replaced my crappy £30 gloves with a pair of heated liners, and a pair of Richa Gore-tex gloves.

I'm not sure which of the 2 has had the biggest impact, but my hands are now toasty warm instead of like ice cubes.

The gloves liners draw 12w. I replaced my front sidelight and rear numberplate light with LED bulbs, going from 5w each to 1w each at the same time, meaning that the additional alternator loads is minimal

My commute is only 35 minutes but most of it is 70 - 80 on the motorway, i have heated grips and Tucano muffs, using summer gloves i havent had any cold seep through to speak of.
The only exception can be sat with the clutch in for a long time, but i think this is only so noticeable due to the sharp contrast to my normally toasty mitts Very Happy

keis heated gloves - heat your hands with 3 settings!

take about 15 secs each to plug in - my phone takes longer to start!.

why use heated grips to heat the outside of your gloves and they are keeping the heat out! - why not just heat up whats cold - your hands! Laughing

I've found a neat way of keeping my hands warm from a bike instructor a while back who worse some thermal inners inside his normal summer gloves and a pair of these over the top:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/GENUINE-BRITISH-EXTREME-WEATHER-WOODLAND/dp/B00AQZJTM4

I bought a pair and haven't had any problems with cold weather at all. The leather grip on the palms are really good too. Order a size up from your usual size to fit over your gloves and you have a warm and waterproof set of gloves which can be taken off if the weather warms up and your normal gloves can be used. Would also work with a pair of these if you want individual fingers rather than mitts:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/GENUINE-WEATHER-GORETEX-FLECKTARN-CAMOUFLAGE/dp/B00CIVXVGO
