Want to be able to under steer easily?

They can managed knee down angles to be fair (max of 55degrees of lean), but they haven't really taken off. I wonder how much that idea cost Piaggio?

Pretty common round my way. An alternative to all the Burgmans and T-Maxes.

Maxi scooters have never taken off in Britain but in places where it doesn't rain so much they're common as muck. All the suits use them.

It's an alternative to a car, not a bike.

Why a DR125SM too?

As far as trikes goes, this ones seems to make a lot more sense.
Get the good stuff of a bike AND some of a car (less likely to fall over etc).

Also get the fun of easier drifting etc.

- I believe there's two versions; one with a wider track (car licence) and one with a narrower track (bike licence).

sounding like we are behind the times down this way then and a fair bit of love for these quirky machines.

I think you can ride on a car licence aslong as the front track is wide enough.

Done a little bit of googling on these and looks like you can get quite large ones (400cc plus), so fair enough, I just thought it was a kind of 50cc ped for those who didn't have the balance for 2 wheels.

As for the DR125SM, it was the lad's bike and being 6'7", choice of ride was a bit limited.
Besides, it was a means to an end.

The police edition is just tragic. I see them bimbling around London all the time.

They were a good way of spotting junctions where Operation Failsafe was going on though, as they'd be parked on the pavement near the lights.

Still wouldn't have chosen a slow 4 stroke.
Being able to touch 70 isn't the same as it being flexible at those speeds.

Read a review somewhere that said they handle really well, grip like on rails, which is the opposite of how I'd imagine these things to be.

Being able to ride/drive one on a car license may appeal to some as said.

But the 500cc jobs were £5-6k. And I can't help but think shop mobility when looking at them.
