Too scared to ride a proper bike?
Want to be able to under steer easily?
They can managed knee down angles to be fair (max of 55degrees of lean), but they haven't really taken off. I wonder how much that idea cost Piaggio? ____________________ My Flickr |

Yeah, Wales takes a few years to catch up with rest of country...
These have been whizzing around London for a few years now. Lots of PCSO's use them too. ____________________ Beginner Biker Adventures Blog

It's just a Scuad (Scooter, Quad).
Seen them before one with a wheelchair strapped to the back. Meh if they want to get out on the road let them. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

Guessing you've seen the error of your ways - I believe there's two versions; one with a wider track (car licence) and one with a narrower track (bike licence). |

sounding like we are behind the times down this way then and a fair bit of love for these quirky machines.
I think you can ride on a car licence aslong as the front track is wide enough.
Done a little bit of googling on these and looks like you can get quite large ones (400cc plus), so fair enough, I just thought it was a kind of 50cc ped for those who didn't have the balance for 2 wheels.
As for the DR125SM, it was the lad's bike and being 6'7", choice of ride was a bit limited.
Besides, it was a means to an end. ____________________ 2002 Rieju RS2-50 (Sold, spares or repair), 2010 Suzuki DR-125SM (Traded for ->), 2007 Honda CBF 600 (Sold), 2010 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Briefly, now returned), 2007 Suzuki Intruder 1800m (Even More Briefly, traded in for ->), 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 650 |

The police edition is just tragic. I see them bimbling around London all the time.
They were a good way of spotting junctions where Operation Failsafe was going on though, as they'd be parked on the pavement near the lights.

You had to much cash in your wallet, but didn't like going at any kind of reasonable speed?
 |
Cost £350 for a 56 plate and good enough to get the miles under my belt whilst waiting to sort out the DAS.
Speed was not a factor as around here too much crap on the roads from those wonderful farmers and builders.
Besides, it would top out the national speed limit, so why would you want any more? ____________________ 2002 Rieju RS2-50 (Sold, spares or repair), 2010 Suzuki DR-125SM (Traded for ->), 2007 Honda CBF 600 (Sold), 2010 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Briefly, now returned), 2007 Suzuki Intruder 1800m (Even More Briefly, traded in for ->), 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 650 |

Ok, not bad a price, to be fair .
Still wouldn't have chosen a slow 4 stroke.
Being able to touch 70 isn't the same as it being flexible at those speeds. |

Would you not need a helmet then? |
Sure, the wide-track ones are trikes, not bikes. You'd doubtless be given the opportunity to point that out to Dibble and faux-Dibble on a regular basis though.
It looks like Piaggio are only selling wide-tracks now, in 300 and 500cc. Fair enough, they probably reckon that there's mo' money in selling to people with car licenses than to L plate pov-bikers.
You can still get a 100% discount on That London's congestion charge if they're no more than 1m wide and 2m long, but you shouldn't use bus lanes or "solo motorcycle" parking. I have no idea how strongly either of those are enforced, but since there's money and ANPR involved I wouldn't fancy your chances. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
