It was close but fair play for not whining like a cyclist about it.

That would have made me quite angry, he came out quite far! But you have to make yourself as visible as possible, he might have seen you had you been nearer to the middle of the road.

If I rode closer to the right, I'd hit a kid coming out from between cars.

The danger on the left didn't happen until approaching the junction, at which point I moved to a central position.

That gave me enough time to dodge the car whole even though he came right out.

Riding closer to the center line would have been the wrong thing to do as a rule. It may have helped this specific scenario, but as a rule it would be more dangerous.

For example, I normally ride this road on the right hand side when coming up the other way.

What is it with Audis and BMWs ? The people who drive them seem to be educationally sub-normal when it comes to road sense.

Pretty unlucky as you were only riding that day due to the tube strikes.

Poor road positioning and poor obs.

You can see the Audi approaching the junction but not slowing down, and riding in the gutter is for n00bs on peds.

Can disagree about the road positioning but it was still poor obs. Of course, if you were on your scooter then that completely explains your road positioning.

As to if I ride, the DVLA have my license for safe keeping.

In all fairness despite the road positioning etc, the car didn't even stop to look. He just carried on.

Even if he did look as he did this, it's unlikely he would have spotted the scooter with such a quick look, especially at night.

As for the road positioning, I'd kinda agree with the OP. Parked cars on the right, I'd generally stay away from them in case of car doors opening, people running out from in between cars or cars pulling out of parking spaces without looking. Although could have moved a bit more to the right and still be quite a safe distance from the parked cars.

However I'd also say maybe a tad too fast for the conditions. May look faster though in the video. If I see or know that a junction is coming up I'd already be slowing down and still be ready to brake. Especially if views of the junction from my point of view is difficult, it's most likely difficult for cars pulling out of the junction to see me.

Despite what you did right or wrong, as I said the car clearly didn't even stop. Granted it's not a requirement to stop but seeing as there is parked cars on the road he came down, his view was limited until the last minute and in that situation If I was the car driver I would have stopped as there was no way I could make an accurate observation of the road I was to pull out onto with the parked cars in the way. Not to mention he was supposed to give way regardless of what speed you were doing or where you were positioned.

One thing I do, faster I go more close to the center line I ride, gives me more space for maneuvering = more time to solve stuff.

Good riding, good swerve, good temper. I would have gone mental at them.

Don't know how people can say poor obs, the car was in view for a second and he successfully avoided them.
