PostPosted: 21:30 - 12 Feb 2014    Post subject: EDIT: Just speeding ticket now, BS 36mph how to appeal? Reply with quote

Started my new job in London, on day 1 I get done for going 32!? according to the gps in a 30. My fault I suppose.

I was told (clearly in error Laughing ) that solo motorbikes park free in london in motorcycle spaces.

Stupidly I didn't look at any signs (right in front of me) and left the bike, came back with a westminster parking ticket.

I was in the wrong, however is there anyway I can wriggle out of this? Even if it is a long shot? I'm going to appeal it regardless, so they have to work for their money.

Pics attached. Looks like parking is free from 18:30, I got done at 18:18. MEEEEEEEH Crying or Very sad

Really need to switch on Rolling Eyes

Hmmm on that note, if I park in a motorbike bay and take my number plate off and take it with me, what will happen Laughing

They'll either use your tax disc or your VIN number and pass onto authorities saying vehicle isn't displaying a plate (even with or without a tax disc)

Westminster Parking has always been a sod since they introduced the charges and began phasing out and privatising the off road car parks

The speed is a guideline - believe Kickstart knew someone get done for 31.

How did you 'get done' for the speed?

Sorry should of been a bit clearer, as it only happened yesterday I haven't received anything. I am assuming currently.

I may have been going faster than 32 mph on the gps but it would only be 1-2mph difference tops. I was the only vehicle there when it flashed me. Think I was doing 36/37 on my bike speedo

Wait for a ticket (if any), as that seems pretty ridiculous. If every rider/driver was worried about getting caught at 1 mph over the speed limit, we'd all be driving at 10 mph or constantly looking at our speedos.

I ALWAYS use the actual speedo for cameras, not worth being cocky and stating you used GPS, £100 fine and 3 points Confused

You'll get fined for having no numberplate and possibly get your bike lifted.

In Westminster, parking in on-the-road bike bays is a quid a day or £3.50 a week. Only parking in bike bays in the underground car parks is free. Send an appeal. Tell them that you tried to use the phone service but couldn't register and it was your first visit to Westminster and was there for a job interview. They'll probably drop the ticket, coz they did for me when that actually happened.

Who told you that? It's £1.10 for the day, I also use the 6789 bike bay code for Westminster where I park (if I have to use street parking).

If you are nearby Cavedish Square, let me know, could sort you out with free off-street parking...

Westminster are known to waive first-time parking offences if you have a reasonable explanation (which doesn't have to be a legal explanation), it's no guarantee that they will, but there's a fair chance.

If you are paying £1.10 for the day, you're paying 10p too much, it's a pound a day.

Service charge. For the sake of 10p I'm not going to cry, thank goodness. I used their iOS app, not text / call. My new bike wasn't registered, nor was my new debit card so easier to update details on the app.

Well I've sent my appeal, I will get a reply within ten days so I will still get the discounted rate if the appeal is denied.

That sucks. Good luck with the appeal.

I still haven't heard anything from mobile speed camera I passed 3 weeks ago. My speedo was broken at the time and I saw it as I was coming around a sweeping corner.. that made me sweat a bit. Laughing .

Roof mounted gatso, sorry missed your post, do go on... Question

EDIT: On a side note (nothing to do with the camera that flashed me) A13 is full of average speed cameras, looks like they're front facing, plus loads of bikes going faster too, I assume motorbikes are clear in that sense? Why are they front facing out of interest'?

Front numberplates are easier to read and less likely to be covered in dirt.

I believe the 10p is for the optional SMS confirmation, just be sure to uncheck it when paying for daily parking.
I pay £100.10 a year - in that case it's worth the 10p to remind me the parking is due!

Same as you, parked without checking the signs. This fat sod with a ticket machine watched me park and get off my bike and wrote me a ticket without saying anything! I complained saying I live in MK where it's free and that the fat ticket man should have said something. I also complained about there being lack of adequate signage. I made sure I worded it very politely and apologised profusely of course Wink This was the same day I snapped my mirror off by mistake.

Had the mirror replaced on the last day of warranty Middle Finger Got the fine cancelled Middle Finger Felt epic...
