I have a Peugeot jetforce 50cc and when you put the key in and turn it on nothing is happening. A light comes up but is very faint which is the diagnostic light. I've charge the battery up and it is now fully charged but still nothing is happening. When you connect the wires to the battery one of them is making a noise and the other one isn't where as before when the bike was running both of them made a different noise. Any one have any suggestions?

Is it completely dead? Do any of the lights/horn work?

Have you checked the fuse?

If you ask this in the Workshop section you'll probably get more replies.

Sounds like your battery is shagged.

Either that or you have a very poor earth somewhere, possibly from the battery to the frame.

How old is the battery?

Also does the bike have a kickstart?

For what they cost I would be looking at changing the battery, as IMO that is number one suspect.

It could be that it appears to be charging ok, but as soon as power is required from it it just cannot produce any.

how do you know its charged then ?

may only be charging to 8 volts if its knackered

also what charger are you using

not a car one as they will fry the battery anyway as they charge too quick and put too high an ampage in

Assuming you've not got a multimeter do you have a 12V bulb (car or one from the bike).

Connect a wire from each terminal of the battery to the terminals on the bulb and see if it glows brightly (and constantly) or is dim or starts bright and then dims.

A good battery will give you a bright light for ages.

Take the battery to a garage and ask them to check it. Not Halfords obviously. Even your local Ford/Vauxhall etc. dealers will probably check it free, good PR. to a potential future customer.
