I thought the flip up helmet was good value : so much so I bought one and liked it a lot.
I lent it to a mate who did`nt have a bash hat at the time.
He liked it as well : so much so that I never got it back Confused Laughing

Good point to this one! I might get both of those helmets, 65 quid can't be sniffed at. That open face one for nice slow rides around town might prevent epic head sweat in the summer and the flip up lid because .... erm ... I don't have a flip up helmet

Edit - It seem the three closest stores (5 mileish radius of leeds) to me don't have the funky colour open face ... booooooo

I know it's wrong, but I'm actually faintly tempted by this lid. The thought of riding my GS, with my beard streaming in the wind is just too much to ignore.https://i.imgur.com/bCXdYGJ.jpg

I've owned the helmet in the past, it was decent but noisy and weighed a ton compared to a £40 quid hjc you can get in sales. The flip down visor also broke after a few weeks

I'm always temped by an open face for the summer. Thinking lazy riding, keeping cool, thinking I look cool, etc.

However, having had an off last year and seeing the state of the chin guard on the flip-front Nolan (it was closed at the time). So that sort of put me off an open face.

Maybe if a get a GoldWing I might reconsider. This on the basis that a GoldWing has a very good screen and it doesn't really fall over, it'll just rest on the panniers.

Slightly disappointed Lidl aren't doing the waterproof/breathable gortex like socks. Only because I could do with a pair.

Been using my Power Ranger/ Tron outfit from last year's offers a lot. Actually very good, probably pick up a couple more sets. Wife always has a giggle if I wonder around the house in it, but it does the job and keeps me plenty of warm. Didn't reckon much to socks, didn't last too well, soon pulled hole in heel when pulling them up. They're reasonable warm, but not amazing. OK for £3 I guess.

Always strikes me a the wrong time of year for flogging cheap thermal base layers though.

The last time they were in, my mate bought the flip-up, and the chin fell off, it worked the screw loose on one side. To be fair though, he is an idiot and we were 16 at the time. Any normal person would have kept an eye on the screws. He lifted the chin up, and then the wind caught it and pulled it to the left, thus knackering that screw and the chin falling off.

Although it seemed pretty reasonable quality, until he got his hands on it.

My dad's after the open face lid, I think he thinks it will look cool on a Varadero 125, or his GS850. He must be having a crisis. Laughing

If he owns and rides a GS850 there is no crisis, only win.

Hahaha! I'll let him know that it isn't a crisis but a win-sis or something. His current lid is older than me, it's a Centurion Pilot and I believe the stamp says 1987. He's only looking at a new lid because the insides are falling apart and these ones are so reasonable. He's terrible for scrimping.
