It goes back to WW2, when a lot of Russians moved there.
The longer term answer will likely be a separate state for the area where most of them live.

Assuming previous elections weren't rigged I don't have huge sympathy for the rioters personally.

tl;dr https://rt.com/news/ukraine-maidan-protest-developments-982/

That is a tl'dr account of what's happened. Ukraine refused to sign an EU agreement, protests started and fairly quickly turned violent and it went from there. On the 16th of February an amnesty was agreed if all the protesters left the governbent buildings they had taken and then everything went quiet.

Three days ago it all kicked off again only with much more violence. Protesters and police were using guns, police snipers were killing protesters, yesterday 57 police were captured by protesters.

https://rt.com/files/news/22/a9/e0/00/000_par7798131.jpg

Today there has been an agreement for the police to pull back and for there to be an early election but there are rumours that the worst is still to come. The country appears to be on the brink of civil war as the pro-Russia east and south Ukraine are never going to agree with the pro-EU north and west Ukraine.

Right now there's a run on banks, shops and petrol stations as well as many people leaving the country.

It's far from being over despite there being an agreement reached today as the extremists have been saying how they're not following the opposition leaders.

See Syria?

Situation is almost identical.

Syria wouldn't let them build a gas pipe from the Saudi peninsular, therefore they were declared terrorists and had to be exterminated.

Ukraine however happens to be the main conduit for Gazprom to pipe their gas and oil into Europe.

If the Ukraine joins the EU then the EU benefits and gets all sorts of trade bonuses. If they don't Russia gets these bonuses. The Ukrainian government is not working for our profits.

Therefore Ukrainians have been declared terrorists and therefore must be exterminated.

BTW they have past form:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/nov/26/ukraine.usa

Also remember a few weeks ago? the tape about f**k the EU? some commentators suggest that the fact they are discussing what happens afterwards is evidence they are behind it.

Plus $5bn given to the opposition in December. Guess they haven't learned the lesson of Afghanistan..

What the pro-EU protesters in the south and west of Ukraine want is different to what pro-Russia protesters in the north and east of Ukraine want.

The 'agreement' reached today that means that will be early elections isn't going to be the end of it. There isn't going to be peace until the two sides go their separate ways. Civil war?

They could always split the country, UK will be split into England and Scotland next year anyway. So it can be done.

putin is trying to prove he has a big cock and he's not gay

obama is a black man and knows he has a big cock

this could escalate into the end for us all
