I've decided I like the look of jackets with external armour. I like the badass-ness of them (Yes, I'm a tart) - an example is like this:
https://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/images/InitialSet/teknic_supervent_pro_jkt_black_LG.jpg
Annoyingly the company that makes this one have gone out of business.

However, I have hunted high and low over the last couple of days and there just dosen't seem to be any other examples that are either in production, or quite what I'm looking for.

Not bothered if leather or textile as long as its got the protection and willing to import for something amazing. Also, its got to be a jacket, so sticking motocross armour over something else isn't going to do the job.

So, anyone know of any brands or specific jackets that have that badass look?

Actually, just to refine the question a bit - I realise that what I'm looking for is for a black jacket where the detail is in the padding and armour rather than colour or logos. There are a lot of black motorcycle jackets with shoulder armour, but other than the bit at the shoulder, they tend to be just plain black, or have that pretend six pack look, or are covered in logos/multicolours.

The second 'tart' was a laptop malfunction Embarassed I actually like the look of that jacket. Not sure I would like all that external rubber on my shoulders though. Couldn't the grip cause injuries on impact with the road?

Haha, well it earned you a place in my sig malfunction or not Smile

Hopefully the grippyness of the shoulders wouldn't be an issue until your sliding slow enough.

Think Knox and Icon in the U.S does a fair bit of stuff like that, all the 'stunting' people seem to wear it.

Why don't you just get a normal jacket then place a mesh jacket over the top. Or fix the armor on to the outside of a normal jacket.

Bought this off eBay for less than £25

Just got it for going through France/Italy in May.....hopefully the weather will permit the use of this item.
It's basically just mesh and armour.

Quick Google Image Search turns up some interesting results.

Spidi Multitech armor jacket might be worth a try:

https://www.btosports.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000007/SPIDI-MULTITECH-ARMOR-JACKET.jpg

https://www.btosports.com/p/SPIDI-MULTITECH-ARMOR-JACKET

Not a fan of external armour myself, although I do like a nice shoulder slider thingy like on this Dainese piece:

https://assets0.revzilla.com/product_images/0032/6220/1533642_A65_F_press_detail.jpg?1316787542

Someone selling a similar jacket to the one in the OP. Without the silly fake sixpack though:

https://myleather.com/p/Mens-Harness-Boots/Mens-Black-Motorcycle-Jacket-with-Breathable-3-Way-Lining-and-Level-3-Armor/97977.html

Lots more similar options on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/bhp/motorcycle-armored-waterproof-jackets

There's always the classic Mad Max MFP option..

https://abbyshot.com/images/maxclothing_01.jpg

Or if you wanna go all the way, le Chevalier du Groland. Guy probably has his own personal armourer though.

I think I've found a winner:
https://asset.lemansnet.com/edge/2/8/2/28202654.png?x=470&y=550&b=ffffff&t=image/jpeg&a=tt

https://www.rideicon.com/products/?productGroupId=87189

Now I just need to track one down. Icons website points to 3 uk dealers, but only https://www.topgearsuperstore.com/ appear to do them. I'd like to try them on before I buy and they appear to be an online only place. So, before I start the guess size/order/try on/return game, does anyone know of any icon dealers in the south that carry these?

Also, any horror storys of topgearsuperstore being dicks about returns?

*Edit - Actually, just spotted that they do have a store, a trip down may be in order shortly Smile

Riding off road, yes?
Because it's made for that and is in no way designed to protect you with your average road crash with some sliding.
Joe rocket made some mesh jackets intended for road use, probably good for Mediterranean, but I found that it ended up pretty chilly in the UK, especially as I'd often end up going home at 8pm after the gym.
(I do have one for sale too, as it goes Smile... forget the size but the first one I got was a bit big, so I got one a size down.)

I for some reason picture that just getting torn to shreds in an off being left with just loose swinging armour pieces and threads of what was the mesh combined with blood and sinew

There is far too much homesex in this thread

These jackets look horrendous, like some terrible low budget movie super hero/ ninja outfit

Also, surely having armour on the outside, with lots of edges, would just be prone to being ripped off in the event of a crash making it completely useless? Not to mention you'd look like a nob whilst crashing

TBH it brings to mind all those Batman impersonators from that Dark Knight film Laughing

Armour on the outside, looks too confrontational IMO. A nice worn and battered leather jacket, on the other hand...
