Do you ride your bike for adrenalin, commuting or something else/not.

Ok I've realized recently (this morning) the last time I had fun was when I was on the way to BBQ 2013 pillion with Suntan Sid which was awesome fun also whilst riding Paddy's monkey bike (even though I flipped it).

Before that the last time I had fun on a bike was on my training ER5 for Mod1 that never happened. Going back further I can't remember when I last had fun just riding around normally on a 125 again the next moment was pillion with Paddy on his thundercat which was a nice bike.

Just wondering how many others on here ride for adrenalin can tell a few do immediately just because the need for speed.

Also a little bit of adrenalin from crashes but that is just not good I know that. Hurt

Edit: Can't seem to edit polls, Embarassed oh well if it's a yes and you commute just click yes.

If I'm to be perfectly honest.. yes I do Razz

I used to be an adrenaline junkie when I was young and single - skydiving, paragliding for many many years. And many other really silly things.. and I've been like that since I remember (age 4-5) Laughing

Now old, married, 2 kids - no longer any extreme sports, only motorcycles.. not as exciting as the above, but track days are pretty good actually Thumbs Up I keep reminding myself that I have children and wife so I don't do anything stupid.

Purely for fun, sometimes for a fun commute. I have a car so bike is not my sole transport.

If it's raining then I don't have fun on the bike, I'd rather take the car. If it's dry, sunny, and I've got 2 hours to get to work, I'll take a 2 hour commute.

Only once have I ridden my bike and not particularly enjoyed it, and that was 4 hours down to Southampton and the temperature was just above freezing. The only purpose of that trip was so I'd have the bike in Southampton, to ride for fun, when I was there for 6 months.

last time i had a bike i didn't have a car, so i mostly rode for my commute. but i used to love coming out at 6pm in the summer, sun still shining down, and just hooning it back home.

i've never been the fastest of riders but i still got a rush from the bike most days, especially the days where i knew something was wrong with the bike!

mainly fun , shopping , pricing jobs , any excuse & i'm out on my bike in any weather .

i've got a car that did 1000 miles last year ( 600 of those miles were done going to england to buy my rocket ) thats how much i use it !

sometimes adrenalin although not to much as to much adrenalin on a busa = prison Very Happy

the fun bit i've decided to get rid of my rocket & get a gas gas 300 2t ( still not sure if i'm making a big mistake ) , from what i've read a gas gas should be loads of fun at low speeds .

Only really get an adrenaline hit when something goes very wrong, so generally speaking, no I don't ride for the adrenaline hit.

Ride a bike because I enjoy the speed , freedom, danger, excitement.
etc etc etc.
And it has always been in me, so to speak. Dad was biker, so I was brought up to be one.
Commute on wee bike and other one when I fancy it.

I did 120 miles on fast A roads today to visit a mate and found it less enjoyable than my usual commute.
I don't do a lot of fast road riding, so my confidence isn't as high when I'm on those roads, whereas weaving between traffic with a few inches to spare in the rain and dark is currently my comfort zone.

Largely for 'adrenaline/thrill/fun' etc. I would like to commute [perhaps not in winter with the cold and a warm car available for lots of journeys], but the hassle of gear/parking with my job makes it a PITA.

More than anything its stress relief for me personally - nothing else has such an impact on me if i'm having a bad day than going for a ride - two wheeled therapy Razz

When I rode "mine" I went out with a great instructor had fun talking about bikes, got it to top speed. And enjoyed country roads for the first time it felt smoother in corners. Main thing was not having to worry over dropping gears to get up hills.

However agree on not having the urge to take a ride on days off, when I was doing the 14 mile commute each way all week. The last thing on my mind was having a "hoot" on the weekend.

Note most of those things I didn't/don't normally do on a 125 as everyone else I knew had upgraded; mainly to Harley's and Thundercats.

This. I seem to be pretty 'resistant' to adrenaline stuff - pretty quickly going fast just felt normal, while for some it's still "whoa, fast!".

And yes, commuting can offer a lot of potential for 'adrenaline' - be it something going wrong or filtering between tight traffic if you're the sort that does get 'adrenaline' from riding generally.

Purely for fun and because it makes me cool Cool

Seriously though, I have a car but I almost never use it because I find the bike much more fun. The miserable little Fiat sits on its own in Devon and I give it a bump start once every few weeks.

Cheaper than public transport in London so bringing it up there next week. Parking is a bit of a pain but can be done. Q-park is your friend in London!

I'm very scared to ever reach this stage Shocked

It seems like most go up through bikes, bigger cc, and then get bored of going quick, and revert back down the cc's to 'have fun'..

I don't want this to be me! Haha. Right now I still love biking, I can't wait for my restriction to come off as I think it will feel like a whole new bike. I love the feeling of progressing up, and riding certain roads thinking I'm fucking Guy Martin..

I've always loved the outdoors and pushbiking ect, so I've always loved motorbikes. In a way it makes me feel more human Confused Can't really describe it, but when your out on a long ride on your own it puts things into perspective for me, long sunny rolling countryside, bliss. Thumbs Up

I ride mostly for commuting and just being able to get around but on the other hand have never been much of an adrenaline junkie or speed demon. For instance I've never bungee jumped or lobbed myself from a plane. Whilst all my mates were riding around in badly souped up Fiesta's and Corsa's I much favoured larger, executive saloons - usually automatic. Saying that most of my cars were quicker than theirs once I got it shifting.

I currently only ride a 50 and suspect that my riding habits may well change along with my license status.

For me its seeing and feeling the gradual progression of my riding skills.
Faster, smoother cornering.
More confident overtaking/filtering.
Everything becoming more natural so that I can take in more of my surroundings on a nice countryside spin.

I'm not saying I'm a great rider, far from it, but if I hadn't felt like I'd progressed the way I think have, I'd have found something else to do.

People tell me I'd benefit from one or two track days and I'm sure it probably would be a bit of an eye opener but I'm happy enough for now.
