Im about to convert my front garden into a drive for my bike, and have been looking at different ways to keep the bike stored.
Ive come across this:
https://i.ebayimg.com/t/MOTORBIKE-STAND-FOR-FRONT-WHEEL-FOR-TIRES-530-670mm-DIAMETER-MOTORCYCLE-SUPPORT-/00/s/MTIwMFgxMjAw/z/t8UAAOxyf1dTINyN/$_12.JPG
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORBIKE-STAND-FOR-FRONT-WHEEL-FOR-TIRES-530-670mm-DIAMETER-MOTORCYCLE-SUPPORT-/121293757088?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item1c3dabdaa0

And was wondering, if I place up against a wall and secure it in place. Would it be secure enough to keep the bike upright.
Obviously the bike would still be chained, but was thinking it would be so easy to just ride up, slot the wheel in and bobs your uncle it parked.

What are peoples thoughts on this, would it work, how long for, would it be strong enough for storing a bike for a long while or just an hour or two maintenance.

Most bikes have a stand, you kinda flick it out with your foot... usually makes it not fall over? Wink

there ok for keep the thing up right while working on the machine with it strapped down, but as soon as the is a breeze the thing will fall over unless strapped down.

just use the stand, or a good quality padock stand. the onyl time the bake needs ti be up right is when checking the oil or dong other work on the machine

It'll most probably work fine - I have a trailer with something similar albeit much heavier duty and welded to the frame of the trailer so more stable, but the biggest ball ache will be pushing the bike back off, over the hump immediately behind the front wheel which is the pivot point for the holder bit. If your bike is light, and the pivot not to high then it'll be no big deal, but if the bike is close to 270 kilos and the hump is quite pronounced it'll be a pain. Especially if the fronts gone a bit soft and you can't get to the valve.

Should hold it up happily for some time, not sure how well after a few British 'summers' or rain storms as they're usually known.

Yes I know it has a thing on the side that pops down for it to stand up with, but I saw this;

and thought 'ohhhh that could be a good idea, wonder whether I could build a version myself' sort of thing.

I would suggest if converting to drive combine storage and security with something like this...
https://www.nutz4bikes.co.uk/WebRoot/BT/Shops/BT3428/4ADD/D40D/7A95/2240/651A/0A0A/33E9/42CA/sep2002.jpg
Site info click here.
Bolt stand into concrete base obviously.

I'm sure there are other variations around at different price points.

Do like the look of that thing - although for the price/hassle of it all, i'd just get a good ground anchor and chain and whack an alarmaed disc lock on it if you're mainly doing it for security. Can shuffle it around with some point-turns to get it in tight spaces most of the time.

How would that wheel chock help with storage as it just looks like an unnecessary expense?

Yeah Embarassed it sort of just... fitted, with a bit of back n' forth Whistle its still in Bristol at the moment as i've been too lazy to install the ground anchor and other security rubbish yet, but it will go in fine with the car.

Seems my space-judgement is non-existent Doh! [half way down] https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=282761&start=125
