I passed mine a month ago today, I have a ER6f and I can say after a few days riding a big bike you won't notice the weight.

I'm a very weak man myself.

WELL DONE ON THE TESTS

Both in one day? Kudos sir. Slow speed stuff can get easier with heavier, more planted bikes, I find uturns on my CG hilarious because the bars hit my knees and if I fall off, it weighs less than the phone in my pocket but the bars move far too easily.

Anyway, congrats. Enjoy manhood now the sun is coming

Congrats!!! I was worried about the weight of a bigger bike too but also find that cornering and slow speed stuff feels a lot more sturdy on a bigger bike.

Let the good times roll! Thumbs Up

I failed my Mod2 last week, got it booked in again for the 18th, so we'll see what happen.

Enjoy the big bike love.. I hated getting onto my scooter this morning, would have been on a CBR had I passed!!

250's can be a happy compromise. I have one, I can't justify the costs of a big bike right now but need more grunt than a 125. My 250 fills that middle ground happily, economical for local stuff and just enough grunt for longer stuff (It regularly does a 200 mile round trip to Cardiff).

A heavier bike is better for slow stuff right up to the point you balls it up. Holding up 200kg+ is far more hernia inducing than using your thigh to keep a 125 upright.

Congrats on the pass, MC. Have fun out there!

Eh??? I find forward motion a great way to keep 250kgs upright, that and gravity, no hernias. The only time the weight is a pain in the butt is when I'm trying to back it up. It's not great for U-turns either but I'm more of a 'head in the right direction' kind of guy Wink

Congrats OP

What I learned; big bikes are fun, (well not the er5) but the weight IS an issue at low speeds, at least for a weakling like me.

It's all in the hips, or so my friend tells me. She's like 5'2" and 100 pounds. And she rides a Blade and a GS Adventure (albeit with a lower seat)!

Now I've sat on a normal seat GS Adventure and I was on tiptoes and I was scared as I was taking it off the side stand as it felt so heavy. But once you're upright it's ok as long as you get your foot on the floor early when you stop, once the bike starts to go I can't see many people being able to stop it.

Anyway back to what she said, was during slow riding, slip the clutch and use throttle with rear brake to balance the power, then get your hips on the inside of the turn to counterbalance the bike as you steer, don't look where you're going... look where you want to go (but don't look down, look up at where you want to go) and the bike will follow, and she said its easy after a little practice.

Sorry, I should have been more verbose with my post. Imagine, if you will, two almost identical scenarios whereby a newbie is attempting a slow U-turn. In one scenario he/she is astride a CG125 weighing sub 115kg and in the other they are straddling a Bandit 650 with almost double the mass. If they do the classic too-slow, topple sideways manoeuvre a dropped foot and taut thigh will keep the CG upright. With the Bandit, however, such a stumble could be the start of a languid and ultimately embarrassing descent of the bike to the horizontal position.

You get me, blud?

Wink

Certainly do, Bro!
Best bet with heavier beasts is to try to avoid tight slow circles and if you can't to drop your feet to assist with U-turns - looks twattish but avoids the more embarrassing result if you don't,
