The deepest circle of hell is reserved for delivery companies who don't deliver.

I refuse to buy anything from anybody who uses Yodel to deliver things to me any more. Twice they pretended to have attempted delivery, once they slipped a note through without ringing the bell or even knocking. I had taken the day off work all 3 days, so knew this to be the case.

FUCK Yodel.

had a note through the door once, several hundred pounds worth of stuff, left with neighbour

neighbour knew nothing

phoned company, put driver on the phone, adamant it was that neighbour

It wasn't. Eejit had written completely the wrong house number on the card, and left it with someone way down the street who gave it to me later that day, never met them before and it was a long way from my door step.

Why did you wait a week before chasing them up? Confused

Yodel are the poo'est. Rather than delivering to the front door, they prefer delivering to the back garden by throwing the parcel over the side fence. Rolling Eyes

I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt (stupid me I know) but I've seen in the past where stuff has been set for 48 hour delivery (usually by Parcelforce) only for it to turn up a week later. I won't be so lenient next time.

I boycott Yodel users too. I collared one of their drivers once after he delivered a jacket to me a week after he claimed he had. He told me as he was based at the far end of Hampshire and Yodel wrongly (but always) put my Wiltshire address as Hampshire he ended up having to deliver my parcels. As he got 40p per parcel delivered it didn't even cover his diesel to me and back so he would wait till he had other stuff for nearby.

Yodel!?! Sick

They don't deliver to the front door, they deliver to the rear garden by throwing the parcel over the side fence.

I do not buy from anywhere that says they deliver with Yodel or MyHermes.

I always tend to use sportsbikeshop and use DPD delivery. DPD used to be utter shite but the last few years they have really upped their game with sms notifications and 1 hour delivery time slots. I know that's useless to you now but maybe worth knowing in the future.. Idea

I work for a mail order company, and our experience is that largely, quality of service is down to who you happen to have working for your local depot.

Every couple of years we switch to a different courier company in the hope of getting a better service (not happened yet), and whenever we do, we get just as many people saying "OH GOD why are you using <new_courier> THEY'RE SHIT" as we do saying "Brilliant, so glad you changed away from <old_courier> to <new_courier>, they're much better, I'll be placing more orders now!".

If the driver who normally does your route is actually trying to do a decent job, you'll [probably] have a good time. If they don't give a shit, you'll not (and because they're servicing your route, all the deliveries you get from that courier will seem shit!).

I always try and get deliveries to my work address.
That way there is always someone to sign and being a business address they seem less likely to play silly buggers.

It can also come down to your driver. My last house was in the same delivery area as my current one - Yodel were completely useless. Here, they're actually one of the better delivery services, with the driver even putting his mobile number on the delivery note, and popping around with my parcel an hour or so after I called him.

Dave from DPD is great. He's always calling up to find out when I'll be back and whether Mrs Borg is in to take a delivery.

It's such a great service that ever Mrs B seems to be whistling and smiling all the time these days.

Reminds me of the VIZism 'Summoning Parcelforce'-

DPD win.
Royal Mail win.
Parcel Force win.
But the most with is from the delivery driver who's a stoner, I won't name the company that he's from. Laughing

No-one meantioned shitty-link yet?

Our guy is terrible. Always delivers damaged/torn/squashed boxes. When I complained to him his reply was "Not my problem.".

Unfortunately for him, it became his problem. I MADE it his problem by instructing our staff that if he delivered anything with damaged outer packaging in future, it was to be opened and inspected before being signed for.

His best one was walking in through the door with a battery for my van, emblazoned with hazard stickers and this way up arrows all over it, upside down on his shoulder.

Anecdotally, a friend of mine used to work as a maintenance tech for one of the big couriers - things with 'FRAGILE' stickers were targeted to be thrown around. As in 'Here Geoff, be careful with this one, it's fragile!' as it was thrown [purposely] heavily over to 'Geoff' on the conveyor belt.
After hearing his stories, I pack things well and refrain from using 'Fragile' stickers.

I would do, but my last workplace decided that they would open ALL parcels (regardless of who they were addressed to) so that they could get the invoice. It was pointed out that opening mail that is not addressed to you is not right and that most companies stick the invoice in a plastic doodad stuck to the outside.

Never had stuff delivered to work since then Sad

We send orders out with TNT and the customer complaints land on my desk

I always thing I won't be surprised again by what has happened but then a TNT employee comes up with a new one

Latest one is sending a "before 12" delivery that was vital to my customer's business show in Brighton to Ireland for the fun of it

The other good one was an item addressed to Birmingham Hilton Hotel, NEC, Birmingham

couldn't find the correct address - he'd tried to deliver it to the NEC who'd refused the delivery making, ironically, a set of flyers for a royal mail conference late!
