Random flat tyre

Went out for a nice ride last night with no problems and everything was fine. Pulled the bike out of the garage this morning and it felt really strange.

Checked the back tire and it was completely flat! I put it on the paddock stand and checked all around, no screws or obvious punctures.

When I get him tonight I'll try blowing it up. Apart from that is there anything else I could check or do?

Do the push bike thing and immerse in water to see where the leak is?

Check the valve opening and around the base of the valve with a bit of spit first.

You can get valve caps that have the tool to loosen/tighten valves on them.

In the past I've made a point of having one of them on each of my vehicles. Less than a fiver too .

Soapy water found a tiny puncture, ride it to a local tire place and they reckon it's not repairable, £150 for a new tire fitted

Where is the puncture?
You could try using some tyre sealant in the mean time, though it's not ideal, especially on a bike for a known puncture - but I've ridden good distances with sealant blocking a hole fine.
You could probably get a second hand tyre for not too much, but may have to wait for delivery if local places don't have any in stock.

It was right down the spine, he said it couldn't be repaired because of the type of tire and not because of where it is.

Left the bike there and going back in the morning, I need it daily so a quick fix was in order unfortunately.

You can't repair a sidewall, but generally can anything between the two sidewalls.

Try putting a tyre on the bike, those foreign muck tires are prone to punctures.

Yeh I meant the centre of the tire.

It's a Michellin, not sure what kind though, brand new when I bought the bike and it's seen 1000 miles.

I thought they could be spouting a load of rubbish but I had no choice, it's my only transport.

I'll upload a photo later and find out what kind of tire it is as I'm clearly not explaining this very well!

That should have been plugged. Anything near the centre is simple, they were just being money grabbing cunts.

It's a Michellin P4 and apparently it can't be plugged because of the speed rating, when it heats up the fix breaks?

I've had Z rated tyres plugged fine.

And, for the matter; used them at those sorts of speeds. Plenty have done trackdays with plugged tyres.

I'd avoid the place in the future.

Keep the tyre; take it to another tyre fitter to repair; you now have a spare or replacement when the new tyre is done for.
Simples.

Also I have never understood the logic on not repairing tyres due to speed ratings.
Just coz you got a 180mph bike with a 180mph rated tyre does not compute to 180 mph use !
