i have recently split my engine and when starting it, the tyre spins in neutral when i hold the clutch then the spinning stops. And when I give it a gas the tyre spins faster. When I shift to 1st the wheel doesnt spin but i cant make it run with throttle, it just stalls. And it wont even shift to second gear. Is it the clutch wire that needs to be adjusted or have I have I fucked something up? Razz its a cbr125R btw

What he said ^

Could be a combination of slight drag in neutral and a dodgy clutch switch or sidestand switch or something causing it to cut out in first.

Orrr you could have messed something up big time.

When you say you split your engine I presume you mean the crank cases, i.e. had the whole thing apart?

i cant go longer up, when i pull the lever up the neutral light turns off but when i let my foot off the lever it goes back in neutral so technically it never reaches second gear? and also in neutral if i hold in the clutch the spinning stops. and the clutch lever also seems harder to pull in that it was original.

Accepted;

Sounds very much as you have made a # of the rebuild.

If you have a centerstand, take the spark plug out and see if you can cycle (go through) the gears using your hand on the gear change pedal and turning the rear wheel with the other hand. You don't need to use the clutch.

You should feel or hear if something is incorrect.
That way you are not stomping on the pedal and causing more damage.

I find that my back wheel spins Whilst I'm doing 50 mph when the roads are damp and I bang the throttle open hard in third gear.

Am I being enough of a hero or should I do it whilst half way round a bend?

Sounds like the selector fork is set too low?

My CBR would spin the wheel in neutral, but you could stop it with your hand.
NO NOT try this until you have some sort of reassurance that it's ok and not actually in gear.

Tyre spinning in neutral you say?

Make sure the tyre is the same size as the wheel, if it's bigger then it will spin and you'll have problems getting air to stay in.
