I hope someone can help on this subject
i have ER 5 bought it used about 3 months ago and the handling just does not seem right i have checked the steering and wheel bearings
the tyres seem like the obvious problem
the front is 6 years old but has plenty of tread
the back i have no record of being changed its a little flated from straight riding, the side tread is good
but when i ride it seems im riding on grass the back wheel feels like its going to slide from under me
i cant even keep up with scooters, they corner much easier than me
the more i get used to the bike its a little better
but just seems it should stick to the road and feel like riding on grass all the time
thanks David

You are riding on tyres that are 6 years old? My rear is bald after 6 months.

As you state, the rear is square. It'll handle like shite

Tyre pressures.
Rear wheel alignment.
Oil leak or chain oiler pissing onto the tyre.
Seriously squared off - can you show us some pictures of the rear.

On the assumption that this isn't a crap troll, Rogerborg's pretty much covered it. I'd probably add to check your forks/shocks aren't pissing out oil, or knackered.

I'd just change the tires anyway, they're six years old mate...

If a troll, well, don't change them, coat them in oil, that will rejuvenate the tyre life, once coated in oil, you need to ride as hard and as fast as you can to mix it all in Thumbs Up

No they don't. Had the same front on my 954 now for 2.5 years (granted it is nearly knackered from touring and track days), but it still grips well enough to stoppie, or get my knee down.

They do degrade overtime due to UV light, or being incorrectly stored, but certainly not in a year.

tyres dont last for a length of time.
they last for a number of miles.
if you are on the same tyres after a couple of years sell the bike or hang it on the wall because you dont ride it.

The rubber can deteriorate over time even if they're not fitted to a vehicle. It hardens and cracks, in colder temperatures harder rubber doesn't grip as well.
