So I was offered one of these lastnight for £800.
I've been scouring the internet looking for more information but it seems fairly limited. From what I gather Sachs is a German company and this bike in particular is built like a brick S**T house. Also the engine is built by Yamaha.
Does anybody else know anything more about this bike, Speed, reliability etc? Any Info is better than none!
I know it's a v-twin 125... Just something about it makes me want it.
Cheers guys. ____________________ 04' Suzuki Marauder GZ-125

Gotta admit I think that looks pretty damn good for a bike and a 125 at that, don't know anything about Sach so can't add anything, but shame if what others say is true about the electrics and such. ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...

Its a nice lookin bike with the v-twin an all, but i recon i'd spend a fraction more on a nice CG125 and make it look just as good as that with a few tastefull changes an tin-o-polish.
Or
If I desperately wanted a naked look V-Twin, i'd consider saving even more and get a varadero 125 with a scuffed fairing, rip it off and slap a headlight on that bessie! ____________________ Chase my Witch up, Catch my Snitch up.

Hi Mivster. True, the Swiss design was pretty inspired, in my opinion. Although, a few would say it's a bike with an identity problem.
And well, I've heard that a lot about the unreliability. I seem to be the only one who hasn't had that bad experience with a Sachs. Never ridden a XTC but, I've had a Roadster 650 for going on 7 years now, with 28K on the clock as I use every day. And a part from the hassles of finding parts after being back ended at a junction by an idiot in a Impreza one evening a few years back, it's never missed a beat. Serviced every 3 months etc. Wemoto were, and are still really helpful. And gave me a few equally helpful parts dealers in Germany.
The 125 rebuild has just been a little project over the last 2 years. I had another back in 05 when I first began riding in the UK. And I have to say, even that never gave me any stress. Guess I'm lucky with the make! : ) I only sold that first V2 to part fund the 650.
Anyhow, was offered this V2 for pennies, as yeah, the seller had had nothing but hassles with it. In a bad state cosmetically, due to it being abandoned in a corner of his back yard for a year. But, finally back together and after a bout 375-400 quid, looking pretty much as new. The original XV only had 12K on it, so after a strip down and new seals fired up great (did have to buy a new starter though).
So now, as I've come across a XV250 in good nick, and going for a 150 quid, just wondering anyone has tried putting one in a 125? I think I'm just going to give it a bash. Unless anyone knows any huge reasons why not to..? |

Also, after a look through Wemoto's cat. for both the Roadster 125 and Virago 250, chain sold for both are exactly the same specs, i.e.
17.50mm, 10.16mm, 2.0mm, 1.42kg/100 links, 29.8KN
As with these specs too...
Induction, same.
Fork size, same.
Exhaust system, same.
So, with the alignment working out the same, and as I said earlier, the brake drum, disc and calliper being the same, is there anything else I'm overlooking..?
The loom is the only thing I've no idea on, if anyone can shed some light on that too please? |
