Ignore these cretins, you want an Apple one. It'll never let you down, they just work.

Wrong section to ask in, but I'd go for any of the brand name ones like Peugeot or Yamaha. Try to avoid anything previously owned by a teenage boy. Teenage girl, no problem (unless her brother rode it too) but teenage boy equals hooligan. That which smokes and rattles, avoid.

Don't assume a full MOT means a scooter is good; an MOT only shows that the bike is safe to ride, it does not guarantee that the engine won't cut out half a mile down the road. As a rule of thumb, anything that looks bad on a bike when you go to look at it will look three times worse when you get it home and see it in the cold light of day, so be critical.

Honda C50.

Curiously enough, after running quote comparisons for just about any and every 50 I could find on offer on e-bay, pondering my daughters imminent 16th birthday; they were a clear 30% cheaper than everything else.

Well supported; engines the same as all the monkey and pit-bikes. So spares no-problem.

Big wheels, engine between the axles and 'sprung' like a propper motorbike; and three speed foot-change gearbox like one too; it's a 'proper' motorbike.

Plenty of pedigree too; Sochiro Honda personally supervised the bikes design; which has gone on to be vaunted as a design classic, as well as THE most popular motor vehicle on the planet (if you include the 70, 90, and 110cc variants) And I'm pretty sure that its either just taken the record for, or is about to take the record for being the longest lived motor-vehicle in continuous serial production!

1000 million Asians CAN'T be wrong! - It MUST be THE coolest ped in the world!

I know it looks like something your gran would have ridden... that's the point... its the ORIGINAL 'Retro-chic'....

OK... it MAY take a bit more selling to convince a teen-ager.... BUT.... I think them insurance quotes will probably be the clincher!

No fucking way am I paying £500 to insure a fucking 50!
Take it or leave it kid; you can have a 125 in a years time... if you start saving for the insurance now!
