hi all,

does anyone know where I can get a 1 meter or 1.5 meter breaker or leverage bar ?

I don't want to spend £60 on a socket wrench which is 1 meter rather need some pry bar so can use it in my mechanic works.

sometimes with my 60cm bar it is very hard to move a wishbone etc in a car . need a longer bar.

many thanks

Old exhaust that is being thrown from a garage that swaps exhausts... cheapest place.

Well, the only breaker bar my dad has is about 40cm long, you simply slide over the scaffold bar/exhaust pipe from a can and you get instant additional leverage.

If it works for my dad to do absolutely everything... I can't see why it wouldn't really work for you.

If you want the right tool for the job, buy the right tool, but if you want to use it once or twice, simple adding a piece of pipe should increase the leverage sufficiently.

FWIW RS do galvanised steel tubes. 1000mm x 25mm bore.
See link here, or 2000mm, 25mm bore.

I'm sure available elsewhere if you look. Or ask at local breaker/scrap merchants perhaps?

41mm combo spanner, ring end usually does it for me

or a 2.1/2" OD x 1mtr stainless steel tube at work if the going gets tough:D

As to where to get one... give a builder a box of biscuits for for an old scaffold tube :p

I think OP means a pry bar, not a crack bar/ratchet/allen key extension. Try getting in contact with a machinery moving company, they usually use them for shuffling things into final positions.

Something like this?

They usually call the large pry/crowbars wrecking bars. Screwfix, builders merchants etc do them

Ah.

Do you know any farmers?

You need an old tine off a front-end loader. Most will have a few lying about.

Off-topic but I notice that you're from The Nottinghamshire area. Was/is your father a scab?

Do you mean in relation to the strikes? What makes you ask? Never really spoke about it in detail but I know he said things were a struggle financially in that time.

Costco used to do a set called 'Gorilla Bars', set of three with the longest around 1m long.

Also on amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Roughneck-64410-Gorilla-Bar-48-inch/dp/B0007YW2B4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1401731034&sr=8-4&keywords=gorilla+bars
