okay so my bike (yamaha sr125 ) has been sat for 6 months. i got it back out and it wouldnt start. so i put new oil and fuel in it, which got it starting, but wouldnt tick over if i wasnt reving it .

so i posted on here for help and some guy told me to rev it full for 2mins and then rev it half for 2mins.
as i was reving it full for 2 mins the bike cut out with a load bang, and since then i cant get it started at all

ive put a new spark plug on the bike, cleaned the air filter, cleaned the carb and still not making any appemt to start.

if i try jumping start it, then you can hear the motor starting to tick over and it backfires, but no power at all

any suggestions, or shall i just take it to a garage

Umm started the bike . Reved it a little, then full throttled for almost 2 mins. Then made a load bang and cut out

Yeah that happened to me when I was a full on novice, personally I'd take your rocker cover off right now. Then check what it's like.

Ok it might not be this but if it was being revved at full for 2 minutes it most probably is.

I really hope you are a troll via that comment; however I will abide and answer. No it is not meant to have a large crack in it.

Nope put compression tested in the sparkplug hole and try to start it until the needle stops

Oh be jeezus I hope this is a wind up! Or I'd be tempted to hit whoever gave you that advice in the head with a base ball bat repeatedly for 2 minutes, then beat yourself in the head with it for the next 2 at half strength for actually doing it!

Failing that...give the bike to someone who knows what they are doing to fix!

Just how loud was the bang?

They can misfire when they cant draw enough fuel into the engine...

If you're lucky it could still be a fuelling problem.

Revving it high is very different to on the limiter for 2 minutes...

It was really load bang.
Now when I try to push start it, you can hear the engine almost starting and a few little bangs ( more like pops)

Would it be the advice CaNsA gave you that you've misunderstood?

Did it sound like a mechanical bang, a noise of stuff hitting each other.

Or did it sound more like an explosion bang?

grab a cheap compression tester, take spark plug out and put compression tester in. FULL THROTTLE - NO CHOKE and try and start bike for about 5 seconds.
The compression tester will now have a reading, which you should be hoping is good Thumbs Up
