So I'm in the market for a new 125 with less shit brakes etc.

https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/suzuki-gz-125-marauder-vandalised/1063221556#photo-content

If I go to view this bike, what other damage should I look out for than they listed?
Does it seem like the front steering is misaligned or is it just my eyes?

(not sure if this was the right area to post this, but it concerns broken stuff on a bike)

Broken lock set (surprisingly expensive), if the steering stops are still there (MOT fail), also the loom (frustrating to fix).

At a glance it needs £500 spent on it on top of the purchase price (workings below) to end up with a 15 year old 125. For that sort of money a brand new Chinese 125 would be tempting.

Bits that would need sorting:
Tyres - £120
Lockset - £80
Lights - £100
Service - £50
Plate - £20
MOT - £30
Other bits - £100

How much can you find an 04 or later (cylindrical exhaust not megaphone) GZ (improved gearbox with shorter 4th and 5th, more power)? Ok ones go for about 800 private, got 500 when I PXd mine 2 years ago.

Factor in how much you can get for it when you sell it, and your insurance costs, I nearly bought a chinese bike when I was on a CBT, but insurance was nearly as much as the bike.

I guess I will keep looking then, I certainly don't need another money pit of a bike.

Cheers tho, gives me some stuff to look out for when viewing other bikes Thumbs Up

Bits that would need sorting:
Tyres - £98
Lock set - Igniton's already been replaced, if the tank cap is fucked, any key or screwdriver should open it.
Rear light - £20
Headlight - £25
Service - £26
Plate - £7
MOT - £30

FTFY, you could do it all for around £200.

On that note, are the parts for most well known 125's about the same price?
As parts for my CG are piss cheap, and Marauders are quite common surely?

Adding to that;

Pretty much anything in that price range will require a service virtually as soon as you get it home and a MOT very soon after
if not immediately so deduct those.

Edited; Tyres = add a fitting charge.

What is the value of that bike in good used condition ?
It looked a piss easy, cheap, half day, fix to me.

( only took the slightest notice as it was semi local )
