I will be visiting the UK for the first time in a few weeks for business. I was able to take a couple of days for myself and want to rent a bike and ride around the countryside a bit. I am trying to minimize cost. I've checked online and rentals seem to be about £90-150 a day (500cc+). Does this seem about average? Can anyone recommend an inexpensive rental company?

Thanks for any input.
Chris

I'll be in the London Hilton Metropole hotel on Edgeware road. Not very familiar with the area. Map shows near St Mary's gardens.

I rented an XJ from these guys, they were quite good.

Click

Carshalton is on the main line from London Victoria, however they have a condition that if you hire for more than one day it must remain in a locked garage overnight (insurance BS). You can leave/collect each day though if you wish (bit of a ball ache), only rented for a day so didn't affect me. They take a deposit off you which is a bit heavy, but you get it back on return and they were really good about it.

I would recommend them, but not compared to anyone else, as I haven't used anyone else. Just depends if it's of use to you.

Thank you for the recommendations.

j.silvs: Just two days and one night. Short trip. I'm looking for anything over about 500cc. I tend to like sitting pretty upright.

Easter Bunny: I found the same site. I was looking at the Honda NT700. I haven't seen that one in the US.

wotsthestory: Thanks. The overnight garage rule seems like a real pain.
