Tour de France is coming round our way soon.. Que me riding on a Sunday last week finding they are resurfacing some of the best biking roads in Essex. Only problem is roads are still open while they rip it up, ____________________ Yamaha MT-09 - Triple powerrrr |

Nasty stuff. Bright side, at least it might catch a few of the more reckless lycra louts out as well and they'll bawww about it too. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

If repairs are allowed to be done properly then they do last.
They often choose not to.
I suspect that filling a hole requires a level of *experience.
You'd cut the rough hole into a shape so the new tarmac is held in place(not done)
You'd fill with hot tarmac(not often done)
You'd overfill it slightly so it compresses to the correct height(*)
You wacker or roll it.
Piles of chippings are in our local laybys and I know most of it will not be applied or cleared up properly...Ranty ...rant...fume...fixmystreet.com...waste of bleedin time...still ranty ranting.

I am very puzzled by our council's approach to road repairs. They recently filled a number of potholes nearby - painted green lines around them first, so I thought, ay oop, they're gonna fix em. But they left other holes, just as deep and severe, and right next to the indicated ones, which then weren't repaired. WTF? And anyway, that whole stretch is falling to pieces, so pointless doing anything other than a complete resurfacing job.
And there is another bit on my way to work that I won't ride the bike down now, it's that bad. The holes and knackered surface even try to snatch the wheel out of my hands in the car, and that's at low speed.
I've already seen a lot more use of the chippings method this year than I can ever recall seeing before - think they're doing another near me now |
