I thought this would be rather interesting, what's the name of the bike that you've seen with the most miles on? I'll setup a little leader board, I've always wondered how many miles bikes can get up to without exploding... The most I've seen (because I haven't been looking) is 17,000 miles on my NRG scooter. |

A mate of mine had a CBR1000 which he used for courier work.
It had 150,000 miles on the clock.
Another mate of mine had an MZ Baghira Enduro with 130,000 on it. He was also a courier.
I've done 70,000 on a Yamaha XV535 Virago.

A friend of mine has an FZR1000 Genesis, the mileometer has gone around the clock TWICE. It's got over 60,000 miles on it and that was back last summer so it probably has more now. He rides it everywhere, Moto GP events (i.e. spain, checkoslovakia (sp) etc etc) bike is in EXCELLENT condition and runs sweet as a nut.. he's not had to do too much to it, just looks after it really well. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Makes the 110,000 on my BMW seem lightweight :-
| Quote: | Back in'73 I purchased a new kawasaki Z1-903. The first year they made them--and my first street bike. After a couple of months I was lucky enough to join up with a touring motorcycle club and learned that one could ride out-of-town and expect to not break down! That opened up a whole new world and I traveled around the country a some. I traded that bike in after riding it for 5-1/2 years. It looked very nice and the dealer wanted it back before the odometer showed all zeros again. He gave me 3/4 of what I paid for it new and it had 99,998 miles on it! My "new" bike is the '79 KZ1000ST that I got on the trade. Zero miles, of course. It just turned over 264,000 miles this morning. Still has the origonal fork seals..just got the first clutch at 255,000 with a "new"(used) top end. The first drive shaft was replaced at 145,000 because the U-joint dried out. I replaced it again at 255,000 because I had a spare and wondered about it...I have re-ringed it a couple of times--did a couple of valve jobs--and painted it a couple of times. All-in-all it has been an excellent machine. It never has broken down and left me stranded. I have always done all my own maintainence and repairs. The bike hasn't been a shop since it was new. After 26 years of riding the same bike, I don't think I could sell it--donate it to a museum maybe, but not sell it. If this great-grandpa gets too feeble to ride--maybe I'll add a hack and put on a few more miles! BTW, getting married cut into my riding time a lot! Especially more so now that the other half is quite ill and mostly bed-ridden. If you're single--stay that way! I still get my daily dose of two wheels--even if it is mostly commuting to work.

I've seen a CX500 with 214k miles on it.
I have seen a Harley with 115k miles on it.
I have seen a 250 superdream with 85k miles on the clock and a sticker inside the back of the speedo when we prised it apart saying "Oh no, not again!" ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I met a chap on the ferry back from france, his vfr750 had 188k on it. The bike looked like new. He had treated it to lots of sparkly/shiny things. It was one of the reasons I bought one.
My vfr800 is only 47k at the mo, but thats been in 20mths, so give me time. I have been told should do 150k with regular servicing etc. I hope so. It still drives like new, though engine sounds a bit noisy now. ____________________ Travelling around the world...a bit at a time. Where am I now? / Visit my BLOG

Hi
The FZ750 has 68000 on the clocks I think, and the Bandit has 51000. Sold my 400 Superdream with about 60000 on the clocks. My MBX125 got stolen at about 32000 miles. The Divvy I have just sold had 45000 on the clocks and the FZR that I am using for commuting has 37000 (up 4000 from when I started using it in September).
Saw a very nice condition Cagiva Freccia import for sale with just under 50000km on the clocks. Looked better than most 125 learner bikes with a tenth of its mileage / age.
All the best

My ZXR has 19,000 Km not bad for 13 years. Averages less than 900 miles a year. When I got the bike last year it worked out at about 776 miles a year it had done. |

A 1950's Vincent 1000 or 1100? 650000 miles. The man who owned it bought it from new and runs a bike touring business called bike and sun tours.
