 |
|
I'm going to be doing a motorbike site and wanted to ask bikers a few questions so I can provide stuff they actually want to see, read, etc and nothing that they don't want!
If I can get enough (proper) responses to my questions below I just might be able to create something bikers really like!
What would you like to see on a motorbike website?
What are you fed up of seeing on motorbike sites?
What are you most looking for on such a site?
What are the main things that annoy you about motorbike sites?
Anything else you'd like to mention?
(I realise the q's seem similar but i am hoping to get as many responses as possible!)
The idea of mine is to have motorbike reviews and videos/photos, plus help/awareness sections for newbies, and how to articles and much more..
It's quite a big project so i want to get it right from the start. I want to create a mega-site that bikers absolutely love, and go to for reviews and news etc. What's in it for me? Well, this time next year......
Serious answers only please!
Many Thanks,
Matt. |

I like reading reviews from real people. I'm not a biking god, and neither are the majority of bikers out there.
I like reading hints and tips - maintenance, riding, touring etc.
I like seeing stats - would like to see a bike site contain something similar to https://www.carpages.co.uk/guide/
I'd like to see a section on customising and modding.
I'd like to see a section on bike law, that is kept up to date.
Racing bores me, but I'm probably in a minority there, so I suppose you should have a section on it. Hidden. Hard to get to. Passworded so I don't accidentally get into it. On a different site.
If you are going to finance it by advertising, make them popups. I can block those.
If you are going to allow comments on reviews, I'd like to see them moderated. Let everyone have their opinion, but posts that go "OMFG dUdE yOu sUx0rZ!" should be removed and their authors plagued by explosive diarrhea whenever they hear the word "bike".
And good luck ____________________ Current: CB500 Previous: CB100N, CB250RS, XJ900F, GT550, GPZ750R/1000RX, AJS M16, R100RT, Enfield Bullet

What would you like to see on a motorbike website?
Good videos pictures, good reviews, sections for various types of bikes, including things for the people who like 50's there are some people out there. Good layout, and knowing the person writing about it has an interest in biking as well not just doing it for $$$$
And women, not fat! Hints, tips advice, opinions.
What are you fed up of seeing on motorbike sites?
the opposite to above^^^.
What are you most looking for on such a site?
Interest, a good set out site and good content
What are the main things that annoy you about motorbike sites?
The dicks who put stupid things in and some boring content.
Anything else you'd like to mention?
Good luck! And if ur going ot have adverts put popups, as a lot of people have pop up blockers so it wont cause them much of a problem.
Hope this helps! O and another thing when its made dont spam it all over here it annoys people. ____________________ Ride Fast, Brake hard, don't fall off! |

'Bikes' is a very big topic.
Personally, I have no interest in generic bike sites - I'll follow a link to a news story now and then, maybe have a poke round if I was thinking of buying a new one, but other than that I find reading about bikes to be quite dull really.
A site about a single model of bike, or for some niche interest within the overall biking thing, would be a better proposition IMO... something that hasn't been done before, or has but not very well.
If I were you, I'd focus on the newbie aspect and try and create a site that covers all the starting out stuff - that way you get to do your bike reviews, gear reviews and so on, but you've narrowed things down a fair bit, and you know what editorial tone to take. On this forum you have a good resource of newbie posts (too see what kind of thing people want to know) and also a steady flow of newbies who could be directed to your site for information. I haven't come across such a site (admittedly I haven't really looked) but I remember finding bits here and bits there that were terribly useful when I was starting out.
Good luck!
And for the record, I give the thumbs down to burds draped on bikes, tedious photos of 'users bikes' and half-assed articles. |

Personally I would like to see a Bike related internet forum run by a chap whose name rhymes with 'Porn' and where people can post anything they want. Preferably self regulated by some sort of mystical energy system.
So then. I would call this forum BikeTalkForums and it would be run by a man called 'Dorn' and the regulator bot would be known as "The Regulator".
Thats what I want. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

So you want to put 'everything' on there? You will need to quit your day job and work souley on your website!
Or, you could join up with me and add some dam useful sections?! It would save you having to pay for hosting fees every month! The site I created was for bikers who meet locally to me, Junction 27 of the M1 and at the MFN bike meet in Ilkeston. I just need to start advertising it really!
Take a look and see if you fancy it?! It could do with some more riding tips and advice and a section on stats or something, but I have not got all the time in the world, boo hoo!
https://www.junction27.org.uk
PM/email me if your interested. I 'd also like to say Imake no money/profit from the site. So, I'm not screwing anyone here! ____________________ TL1000R Parts For Sale! |
