 |
|
I'm not talking about the cost of purchase, but the cost of maintenance/modifications, because as of tomorrow I will have spent around about £800 over the course of 9 months or so on a bike that originally cost me £2000.
So, I'm just wondering if I'm the only one that's mug enough to keep shelling out the way I do, or if this is something that affects bike riders in general?
So, what's the most you've spent on a bike?
...get this horrible feeling you're all gonna point and laugh.
Thanks to all that reply. |

On my NRG - it cost me 1500 to buy. Over the years
Servicing - 600 quid for 5 services
Battery - 20 quid + labour
Rear shock - 60 quid + labour
Rear tyre after 9000 miles = 79 quid
Mirrors x 4 = 60 quid ( yeah, i used to crash a lot and naturally, the protruding mirrors acted as crash mushrooms , so now in my garage, i have 3 pairs of broken NRG mirrors - one of which has its stem fractured into 2 pieces)
Bulbs and electrics - 80 quid - Piaggio electrics are known to go duff after a couple of years and needs constant attention - my bike also had an immobiliser so charge used to drain.
All in all, i can clearly say that i've spent almost half the purchase price of the what i can only say as being the most fun bike i've had in quite a while - 600 over 14 months on a STANDARD may i say, 50 cc seems pretty steep ( i be no rcr wid dem gianelli tings bolted to me 3ngine!) ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Why'd you make me think about how much I spent (wasted) on my TL1000R?
Let's see, bought £3800
Tax: £60
Crash mushrooms £50
Fork seals: £70 (2hrs labour + labours)
Exhausts: £500
Engine repair: £1600
Total: £6080
Sold it for £3750
Cost of £2230.
And for that cost I did fuck all miles on it cos the gearbox died shortly after I bought it. |

Hi
Excluding buying a bike it would be having the work done on the Bandit. Time to depress myself:-
Engine tune = £1300
Exhaust = £725
K&N filter = £35
Dynojet kit = £125
Full Barnet clutch kit = £200
Dyno set up = £200
Oil cooler = £220
That comes to about £2800, and I think there is a bit more spent elsewhere (such as £200 on some CNC machined engine covers that I have not fitted). About £50 per hp.
All the best

Spent maybe a few hundred on the AR. Havn't really thought about it but some stuff:
3 tyres £25 a pop, 75 quid
sprockets and chain, about 40 i think
gave a friend of a friend £20 for spraying and filling in the cracks on a few bits of bodywork
upgraded tail lights about 15 quid
micro indicators 15 quid
5x7 number plate 16 quid
tax £15
most engine work is free or parts only as my dad is a mechanic. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |
