Hi all, I lent my son who lives in Carlisle my old W reg cg 125, to ride through summer for work till he starts uni again in September. I put it in a rented transit in March and drove the 170 miles which cost me the best part of £120, and I had to do it in 12 hours to get the van back.

However the time is approaching for me to pick the bike back up and I can't decide how to return the beast for my winter commute. To save cash I thought I am either going to go up on the train and slowly ride back at 50 mph stopping every hour for a fag coffee etc. Otherwise I might go up in my old 03 plate celica, drop the forks, drain the fuel/oil , take off the foot pegs and jam it in the back with the seats down. Both will cost about the same and my time is free.
I will ensure the cg has fresh oil, adjust chain, tyre pressure etc,if I decide to ride I am quite competent with the spanners.
I will go with the majority, unless there are other suggestions, so please let me know what you think.

GSXR in a Renault Clio.

A CG125? piece of cake.

Ride it home. Take a camera, enjoy the day.

It is further north but might be easier on the cg than going over the top on the a66.

Or if doing it over a long day/weekend drop further south on the a6 and go via peak district dales (Hawes and the like).

4 1/2 hrs via Alston and the North York Moors. Sounds like a jolly day out. Making a weekend of it is huge overkill, its only 6 hrs at 125 speeds

This. I would (and have) done this run for the pure hell of it as far as Scarbrough on my Enfield which is no faster than a CG125.

I'd be tempted to go A6 to Kendal then Hawes (for lunch), Northallerton, Helmsley.

Thumbs Up great minds and all that.

On stinkwheel's route be aware of the speed cameras around Driffield, but you'll probably know that. Only you may be a bit tired and want to get on by then.

Wayhay my home town gets a mention, good olde northallerton!

amazing roads, around there actually miss them a lot, nearly as much as Sean Combs misses the notorious BIG.
