The worst interview I had was for a teaching position. I was in a chair, faced by three people in chairs, with no desk or anything else between us. It was more like an interrogation by the Stasi. Needless to say my reaction to the scenario resulted in no offer for the job.
PS: It's "worst". ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!" |

Yup. Had an interview years ago - three people on the panel, two of whom I'd worked with very closely for some time, so they were used to me.
The interview was going swimmingly, until we got to the 'any questions?' stage. Being the smartarse that I was, and feeling waaaaay safer than I had any right to, I quipped 'Yes, who would I have to sacrifice chickens to for a contract extension?'.
Turns out the third person on the panel, who I didn't know, was a militant vegan/PETA type person. The two who I knew were killing themselves trying to suppress laughter, but she looked as if I'd just taken a dump in her grandmother's open casket during the funeral.
Suffice it to say I didn't get that job. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

More likely explanation is that the interviewers, being managers themselves didn't have a clue about the operational side. I've had similar experiences myself where the interviewers plainly didn't have a clue about the role they were recruiting for. ____________________ They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa, hey-hey,

My worst interview was a long time ago. Back when I had very little experience and hadn't even graduated yet.
Essentially she invited me in to moan and take me apart and hammer my confidence.
She went through my CV line by line and told me how it was irrelevant and how it was unsuitable. I got up and left about 10 minutes in. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. I went for an interview with Barclay's bank off the back of a recommendation.
Turned out, the interviewer was a customer at the Saab dealership I worked for, I had always looked after her and thought, ok, this should be slightly advantageous.
Anyway, thought it was going reasonably well, mid way through a role play exercise, when this woman gets a nosebleed.
She buggers off to jam tampons up her nose and then comes back, role play continues and then interview finishes.
Couple of weeks later, I get a phone call from the recruitment section to say I had been unsuccessful.
In the feedback, she had written that I had missed a key opportunity in the role play scenario, which I very clearly remember I did not and had been demonstrated at about the same time as the nose bleed occurred!
I did think about appealing it but then I would be going against the word of the woman that would end up being my manager if I had been successful, so didn't bother.

I went for an interview for an NHS kitchen job a few months ago and for health and safety reasons they make you wear these one use lab coat things - it's basically a bin bag with arms on it. A very nonbreathable bin bag.
It was about 25c outside, probably 30c+ inside the kitchen and I passed out and smacked my head on the ground
I ended up not getting it, oddly enough. Apparently I "wasn't a suitable candidate" |

Someone posted a 28k London underground job on here a while ago, so I applied, more for a bit of fun than anything as I won't leave where I work anyway.
Passed a telephone interview and then another in person. Then came the role play (angry customer, wanted to know why there were delays and what platforms were disabled friendly and what route to take as a diversion)
I HAVE NEVER BEEN on the tube in my life
Managed to BS my way to this stage but there was no getting past this point haha. I improvised and looked at the map so I could divert, then he asked what the future plans were for.
So I made up a phone number and said call the manager he will answer all of your questions. Wasn't surprised when they said no, I didn't have a clue what was going on haha. Had there been no talk of trains I think I would of smashed it. I'm rather good at BSing, as that is what interview are all about ____________________ Malaguti F12 Phantom-Dead, Suzuki AY50- Dead, NRG power DD LQ, CBR125.

Had an interview at B&Q once and I wanted to see how far I could push the BSing boundaries without them knowing.
They asked about why I wanted to work at b n q:
Ever since I was 5, the orange glow of the building has been so welcoming and I used to ask my parents to take me there for fun. When I saw the opportunity to join the 'orange second family' as I call it, I jumped at the opportunity and here we are, I'm feeling a little emotional in fact.
Asked: What is the best thing you have ever done or something like that:
At the age of 15 I had a paper round which netted me £25 per week, one day I was walking in the street and I found a homeless Lithuanian girl who looked terrified, she told me stories of when she had to offer sex for £10 at the age of 14 and she wants to give up.
So I built her a tree house and gave her £20 every week of my money for items and always asked my mum to cook extra for her. She is now back on her feet and in a home and thriving.
What does customer service mean to you:
Customer service means the world, and customers are guests in our family home, I must ensure they have a great time. If ever there were a day a customer went home without the right paint, I'm not sure I could forgive myself. We are the foundations of peoples home improvement plans of weekend and I want to be the B&Q knight.
How the hell they couldn't tell I was having a laugh I don't know, they offered me the job later that day To which I declined ____________________ Malaguti F12 Phantom-Dead, Suzuki AY50- Dead, NRG power DD LQ, CBR125.

"Close your eyes and imagine you're in a park on a sunny day. What do you see?"
This was for a programming job.
I thanked them for their time and walked out.
They still offered me the job. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Hi
Worst interview was at a large car company. Interview was in a large room with 3 people doing the interviewing. The room was set up so that you were quite a distance from them (no table, etc), and they were spaced widely apart (so you couldn't look at all 3 at once). Whole thing seemed to be set up to make you feel uncomfortable even before they started talking. Seems quite common at that company (years ago knew of someone who came out of one of their interviews in tears).
Another nasty one was at Peugeot in Coventry. The office had most of the staff crammed in the middle of the room, but with large managers offices around the outside. One of the managers doing the interviewing was paying pretty much zero attention, to the extent of coming out with "I may already have asked this, but....". There was someone else I knew at an interview there that day. Both of us came out and said we didn't want to work there.
Few years ago I had an interview with a housing association. One question was how they could get more people from ethnic minorities to work for them. Not sure it was what they wanted to hear when I told them that they left it a bit late by building their head quarters in a largely white town rather than 10 miles down the road in an area with a far greatly percentage of the population from ethnic minorities.
All the best
