I am struggling to remove a powevalve actuator bearing from my clutch cover. The bearing seems slightly gritty to me and its the last thing to sort before running the rebuilt engine. I've tried heating several times it just doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
I've got a few questions;
* What sort of temprature do you normally heat a clutch cover or the maximum without damaging anything?
* What are the chances of one of these bearings going? If it should fail what sort of damage is likely to occur, as the bearing on the crankcase side of the actuator has the same 'gritty' feel.
* I also noticed that a mystery component (It looks like a gear shaft internal seal) was in the old bits I got back. If this has been removed what will be the consequences of running the engine?
Am I worrying about nothing?
Any input appreciated. |
Break it up a little.
Wall of text makes it exceptionally hard to read & will likely make people not bother to help! Have edited it for you to make it a little more readable
Also, I'm going to guess it's a KMX, but you need to list manufacturer, model, year etc if you need a specific answer.
Will also require a photo of the mystery part in order to ID it & offer an answer to what it is/does & what the effect of running the motor without one will be.

Stop being a potato.
I can't check any of this without the details requested in my previous post. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Could you take a photo of the shaft lying on something so as I can see the complete thing? Half of the shaft isn't very helpful. If the shaft has three grooves in it it may be extremely worn giving the impression of a third grove that isn't machined into the shaft at all.
That mystery seal I don't recognise. How did the engine come to be in bits/who dismantled it & re-built it? Generally if a seal isn't there and it should be there the engine goes kaput very quickly or doesn't work at all.
As far as I can work out from those photos, the 8.8mm O-ring goes towards the crankcase end, and the 6mm O-ring will go towards the impeller end.

I have attached a couple of photos hope theyre decent enough basically the 3rd one i mentioned is a groove right at the bottom of shaft so seems it would be inside the crankcase, i ordered the two o rings but the larger one (8.8mm i think) is closest to impeller and smaller one doesnt seem big enough to fit onto shaft past this groove right at the bottom and its baffling me
The engine was rebuilt by a supposed reputable company but guy works from home and im coming across a few schoolboy errors to say the least. The 8.8mm one i have fitted onto the highest groove as this is where it seemed to be before & on my spare shaft before there was just the one on both shafts thanks |
