Anyone got a generic manual for a Chinese 125cc horizontal pit bike lump or links innit? Reckon I'm missing a washer off the gearbox countershaft which is obviously & fundamentally terminal in all cases &, if that isn't life threatening enough, there is a washer on the clutch shaft with teeth & I don't noes which way round it goes. So you see that my life is profoundly fucked without this information.
I did try a search using the VIN - 156 FMI, the various Chinese ident numbers on the barrel JL 414-06-08 & other gubbins. I even joined a couple of Chinese pit bike forums - the first one was full of UK kidz & boys dem wot do text talk innit& no nuffink bout engin & the second one, an American site banned me instantaneously & sent me a shitty email telling me I should re-register with a more appropriate & family friendly name before I could post anywhere near their site - I did reply & told him my real name was actually Colin Lingus but the racist bastards are still holding out on me.
There is the legend 'Terra Moto' inscribed on the clutch cover which is either the shpit bike it came out of or Cantonese for not waterproof. The other arse is that 156 FMI, which means single cyl, 56mm bore & some other stuff apparently, actually relates to a five speed, 56mm bore vertical CG style lump & my barrel is 52mm so wadafuk? Is there some standard way of telling Chinese engines apart or a Jedi trick to determine the manufacturer?

Yup, 156FMI is 56mm (or 56.5mm in the case of the CG copyengine). It can refer to a couple of different engines, sadly, but none of them are 52mm bore. That should be labelled as 152FMI (at least for a 125cc, the final I represents the capacity).

Not much help, sorry.

Thanks Rog, I'm just gonna throw it together & see what happens. It's possible that it may be a copy engine or maybe it's been sleeved down by the factory or the previous owner...

You can't go wrong if you fit the spring washers on the end of g box shafts where the shaft goes into the crankcase . I think they are used to stop wear on the casings from the gears as they slickly slide along the shafts.
Be more carefully if washers are required ....BETWEEN the g box gear clusters.

Yeah, that's what I thought but this lump has ball roller bearings for all shafts unlike my old Cub which has needle rollers. In some of these old Honda 'boxes the shafts sit directly in the alloy of the crank case & the head! No bearing. So I see what you're saying about wear. How come Honda engines rack up thousands of miles without a hitch when these Chinese engines with roller bearing everything have such a shit reputation for reliability?
It looks as though my countershaft just sits in the bearing. Makes sense. I did bolt it up with a Cub washer in situ but the shaft was tight even though I didn't torque it so I took it out. I have replaced the snap rings & washers between the clusters so they're all good. I won a hundred snap rings for £1.12 on eBay, so I have ninety-six left for my next rebuild Laughing
I'll try & fling it together this w/end & see what happens. It needs all the help it can get if it is to survive my pikeytech port job...
