Dishwasher installation.

Hi all,

Another dear auntie thread reminded me I have been meaning to install a dishwasher for ages, but been putting it off.

There is a spare water outlet so that isn't an issue, the part I'm not sure about is the waste outlet. Currently have a washing machine installed, the waste water outlet hose runs to a spigot coming from just above the U-bend under the sink (as per picture).

It's a rented house, owner is a bit of a cock and I'd rather not replace that single spigot jobby with a double spigot jobby if I don't have to.

I.e. I don't want to use one of these, unless I have to:

Ideal would be a Y piece to convert the single spigot into a double spigot, but I can't find one. Is this because they don't exist as they are a bad idea or just because I'm not looking very hard?

I had the same under my sink and looked everywhere for a twin outlet so put a hole through the outside wall next to where the sink drain come out and added push fit pipes as a drainage, one going down to the drain, one going through the wall and at an angle, just shoved the drain pipe into that end

Do you have 2 cold water outlets?

What would the difference be?

I'm sure that would fit on to mine would just need to have a screw on the waste pipe connecting to it or screw a pointy end on to the thread?

You may be able to butcher something like this in but it won't be pretty and may cause problems if you use the dishwasher and the washing machine at the same time.

Yeah I have two cold water outlets, there was a dishwasher in there at some point, but the waste outlet spigot, u-bend etc look very new so assume it has been changed to a single.

The screw on y piece wouldn't work with my push on waste hoses.

Don't fancy bodging it, Butchering pieces etc, trying to find an uber simple solution to a fairly simple problem.

Are the waste pipes fited to the dishwasher or are they screw on at the dishwasher end?

If so could you not get screw on both ends?

Hey up, Doc. I've been on an expedition into my garage this afternoon and guess what I've found?....A 'U' bend c/w double spigots similar to the second image that you posted. It's yours if you want it.

I have mine installed just in front of the sink, any further away and she can't reach the taps.
