getting too distracted by the beautiful sunny day going around a roundabout I just realized I am actually going into the central part, have done kind of wake up braking and almost drop the bike in the center just managed to put my foot and stopped there for a while.

I used to read a few topics on that forum when starting out as a rider.

Over time their incredible safety OCD and overanalysis of every damn bump in the road became wearying to the point where you just wanted to throw your hands up in the air, shout "FUCK IT" and go out for a ride.

I got my laces caught while pissed one night (in Japan, was practically legal) and just about managed to catch it before thumping the deck.

Stalled the Zed as I exited a junction and caught it about an inch shy of hitting the deck.

Not long after I first started riding I was in a busy supermarket car park, getting ready to pull away, when suddenly I shot forward towards an occupied parked car opposite me.
I must of put it in gear absent mindedly without pulling in the clutch. Having been jerked back in the seat, my legs flung behind me, grabbing at the handle bars with my fingertips merely twisted the throttle back further, leaving the levers well out of reach.
As the driver's eyes in the parked car opposite me became larger and larger, the only course of action to avoid a costly insurance claim was to jump off it and ditch the thing in the remaining few feet I had left.
What was later reported to me as a spectacular dismount cost me a new handle bar and an indicator lens but thankfully no contact with the car opposite.

When the sat nav forgot to tell me about the immediate left turn after the right and I was halfway past the jct and decided to quickly change direction on gravel. Feet went down and skidded along with the bike like a child and used every ounce of energy to keep it upright along with squishing parts against the fuel tank. Lesson learnt

Sat on bike waiting, in gear, wasp flew up my left sleeve and stung me. Pulled arm back, bike lunged forward and the sissy bar did it's best to ram my balls in to my throat.

Too much lean and too much throttle on a tight u-turn in a freshly rained on carpark.

I've also managed to put my foot down on the wrong side across a hill. Luckily, the parked car to my left kept me from laying it down completely.

Oh yeah, and coming to a stop in another carpark with the bars on slight right lock. Couldn't hold it up but let it down gently.

Still in my first year, too -- feels like it's becoming a habit...

Shooing someone out the way pulling out from my house, got too vigorous with the arm movements and ended up laying the bike down on my foot at around 2mph.

Having to pull a low speed e-stop as I was giving way at a junction due to a speeding 7.5 tonne high sided truck who was all over the road (I.e. if I'd stopped on the double broken white lines he'd have hit me). Fell to the left this time, best mistake I've ever made as it somehow got me further out of the path of the truck. Got no help from other drivers behind who'd seen what happened, one inconsiderate prick was actually slowly pulling towards me before I even got it upright again to pull away. And cage drivers wonder why we don't show them much respect...

I have a variation to rule 2.

I passed my tests 13 years ago and spent my first year on a knackered old XJ600 with the strategy that if I am going to drop a bike as a noob, why not a pre-dropped one? I rode it for a year and never put a mark on it.

A few weeks after picking up my showroom-mint (but second-hand) Yamaha Thundercat I was paddling it backwards along the drive to park it and put my left foot on a wind-fallen crab apple. Next thing I know I was lying underneath a less-mint Thundercat with a bent clutch lever, scraped mirror, bar end, indicator and generator cover and a cracked fairing. I still have the bike and it still bears the scars (except for the clutch lever).

#1 Long day in work, came out tired, paddled 125 backwards too fast, rolled down onto wide crash bars, hauled it straight back up in the same motion. Yeah, meant to.

#2 Black ice on the 305. In "full control" until I was horizontal.

#3 BCF picture challenge on the 500. Parked on a 10% downhill gradient to get a picture of the sign, put on sidestand, didn't properly knock it into gear, walked away.... fail.

#4 Dithering U-turn on the GS to maybe go back and pick up lunch perhaps, Chinese curry, but it's just mushroom, but oh so nom, aaaaand I'm down.

As #3 above (*looks pointedly in Fifteen15's direction* ; - )). Up on the moors outside helmsley - gated grazing. Stopped to open gate on 15's SV but couldn't quite reach it. So he got off my 500 and came to help. Annnnd it's over.

CRM goes over pretty frequently - but doesn't count cos it lands in bushes or on me.

Trying, and just failing, to get the VFR on its centrestand, and having it roll off just slightly tilted in the wrong direction. Falling away from me, no way of holding a top-heavy 240+kg up.

If I'd been super aware, once I knew it wasn't going to make it onto the centrestand, I should have pulled it forward with my right hand and steered it to the right with my left hand. That could have counter-steered it so that it was leaning in my direction. But it's easier said than done.

I doubt I'll ever try and get it on the centerstand alone again.

Disclaimer!!! Not my bike, I was an unfortunate pillion.

Pulling away from a busy junction on a scabby CB250 'wetdream' and finding oneself lying on the tarmac thanks to servicing neglect on the part of the wanker that owned it. Loose chain jumped off sprocket and jammed in rear wheel... embarrassed much!

U turn on a rather steep gradient. Went to put right foot down half way through the manoeuvre, only to realise that now the ground is a lot further down and thud went me and bike. Had a long line of traffic behind me too, just for added hurt.

Also, using front brake on CBT U turn...lesson learnt.

And not making sure side stand was fully engaged before dismounting...another lesson learnt.
